AURORA LOOKED AT HERSELF IN THE MIRROR, she was still the same girl, her dark brown hair falling softly around her face, framing her sienna eyes, her perfectly glossed lips— she was the same.
yet, as her gaze lingered on her reflection, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her. it wasn't the physical appearance that troubled her, but the invisible mark that lingered beneath the surface.
in her mind's eye, she could see it vividly – the scar that wasn't there, the phantom reminder of a past she couldn't forget.
it was luke's scar, a symbol of betrayal and pain etched into her memory.
aurora reached up, her fingers tracing the outline of the nonexistent scar, she had still believed in him, probably more than she should have, she believed that there was a chance, that luke would somehow redeem himself.
maybe in some universe she would have joined him, she hated to say this but aurora kind of understood where he was coming from— if it wasn't for annabeth and percy she probably would have joined him in this universe.
"aurora?" pepper furrowed her brows, the younger girl was standing in front of a mirror, clutching her face. "is everything okay?"
startled by pepper's voice, aurora quickly dropped her hand from her face and turned to face her father's assistant, forcing a small smile onto her lips. "yeah, pepper, i'm fine. just... looking at something."
"okay," pepper nodded skeptically. "get ready we need to go."
"i'll be down in two minutes," aurora replied as pepper walked away. as soon as the lady was out of sight she turned back to the mirror— there was no scar this time.
this probably sounded so stupid and aurora thought if she ever told anyone this that they would think she's dramatic and overreacting but she would often have nightmares about luke, they always ended differently.
one even ended with him dying, safe to say she cried all night.
"let's go," aurora spoke, walking down the stairs and flattening out her blue dress.
