first kiss of the year

Spending a day out, late in the evening with Yuzuru on new year was a fabulous idea. Most of the time Yuzuru's stuck at home cooped up in his room, gaming or planning his new programme. But today you decided to bring him out of his shell to go see the outside world.

Sure, there may be a lot of people but you think that he, as well, deserves to go out, because he's also human. Plus you don't think people would pay much attention since they're out with their loved ones.

After walking around and checking out multiple stores, you guys finally settled at a little shop that is situated in a more secluded place. As you led him there with a firm grip on his hand, he looked at you from behind as he saw your long and lustrous hair swinging back and forth as you excitedly dragged him to eat.

At this point, he's just following you like a lost child. He observed your interaction with the lady which he thinks is the owner of the shop. It seems that he can't hear the outside world right now. Everything sounds like noises playing in the background and only your voice seems to sound clear and melodious to his ears.

"Seems like your lover is awestruck" said the lady with a laugh. "Anyways, I hope you two have a lovely night." You thanked her as you bowed your head.

Yuzuru on the other hand, is still in a trance. Maybe it's the atmosphere that's making it more mesmerizing but wow, tonight he just feels so mesmerised by you. A bunch of things come rushing in his head from every direction. The soft evening sun rays are a paid actor indeed, Yuzuru thought.

Since when did you plan all this?
What did he do to deserve someone like you?

But more importantly,

How long have you waited for him?

The moment that one thought came across his mind, suddenly, he felt a rushing feeling of guilt. You were right there in front of him all this time. Yet, he never thought of reaching out to you nor did something like taking you out on a date or doing something fun together. Did you plan all this without knowing what his answer to your suggestion will be? Doesn't that mean you're just gambling the possibility of your wish coming true?

At this moment, everything comes rushing in Yuzuru's head that you have to snap him out of it by calling out his name repeatedly. "Yuzu! Yuzuru! Yu-zu-ru!" When he finally snaps out of it, the first thing that graced his vision was you with a worried face and latching on his arm. "Are you not feeling well babe?" you asked leaning close and placed the back of your hand on his forehead.

Yuzuru continues to stare at your face as you cup his face. "We can g-" He suddenly grabbed your hand and pulled you towards him and hugged you tightly. You were a bit startled by his sudden act but still succumbs to his warm gesture by wrapping your arms around his torso.

Something's up, that's why he's behaving like this , you thought. With that aside, his arms around you feel so warm that it makes you want to fall asleep in his warm embrace.

After you guys ate, you both decided to walk back home then watch the fireworks at a nearby park with a lake. You both arrived at the lake 10 minutes or so before it struck 12AM. You both sat on the grass a few meters away from the lake, catching your breaths. Once you both finally catch your breaths, silence fills the atmosphere with the sound of people's houses nearby partying with their family and the sound of crickets.

"Okay I got a few minutes left before it's 12. I'm gonna do it quickly" thought Yuzuru.

"I got s-"

"Yuzu, I-"

You both look at each other, then said at the same time :
"You go first."

"You go first."

Oh. Yuzuru takes the lead this time and tells you to go first.

"You go first." said Yuzuru

"No-" you sigh and say what you were planning to tell him, "I wanted to say that this year has been a great year. Spending time with you is always fun although you're quite busy with your ice shows and all but every single time you stayed home and had time to be with me, is always a blessing. And I also noticed that you really try to take time off to be with me and it makes me so happy knowing that. I cherish those moments very much. Those moments are very dear to me. If only the world knows how hard-working my husband is. He's too busy sometimes he doesn't have time to be with his wife, but I , do not blame him nor will hold anything against it. Everything I've done for you, Yuzuru, is out of my heart, my pure love for you. And you deserve all of this, and much more."

After you finished your speech, you noticed his eyes getting teary and your hands instinctively found its way to his cheeks, wiping a lone tear that cascaded down his beautiful face, that's shining under the moonlight. Oh, how he's easy to read like an open book once he pulls an affection move, you thought. You pulled him towards you and embraced him tightly. Yuzuru rests his face in the crook of your neck while you soothe him gently on his back till suddenly...

BOOM

Both your heads shot up at the sound. When Yuzuru looked up to see the fireworks, you looked at him lovingly, observing the way he's taking in the sight before him. You watched the first firework that was shot in the sky through his glossy eyes that's still watery from his tears. Oh... just how much you love this man.

He turns to you and launches himself at you, capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. You returned his kiss then break away and you both said at the same time while pressing your foreheads against each other's,
