Ryden POV

"Hey, how was pre school?" my best friend asked, giving me a knowing glance.

"Great, it was great, yeah.." I trail off, my smile dissapearing.

I sighed as I sat down at the counter, tapping my fingers on the desk.

"Oh, come on Ry, smile a bit more, please. She's gone, get over it," Jack, bff, sighed, dusting off a cabinet full of CD's.

Yeah, I work in a CD store, what, I absolutely love music.

"If you must know, I was smiling earlier today," I bark, resting my head in my hands.

"Yeah? How come?" Jack inquired, trying to make the wood shine as brightly as the sun. Pfft, as if.

"BrendonBoydfuckingUrie," I say so quickly that I don't even know if I even said it right.

Jack just stares at me with one raised eyebrow.

"Flehflehfleh what now?" he asked, pushing his head forwards with a confused look on his face.

"This guy who works at the preschool, Brendon is his name, he's nice, too enthusiastic, but nice enough I guess," I shrug, twiddling my thumbs.

"Seems like my kind of guy," he winks, and I have to laugh.

I grab the nearest object, which happened to be a notebook, and threw it at him, he only just dodged.

"You're not even gay," I giggle, because his fake horror on his face never fails to amsue me.

"Neither are you," he counted, smirking and wiggling his eyebrows.

"I never said I was," I say, still smiling and shaking my head at him.

"Hey, buddy, did you have  a good time?" I ask, reaching down to hold the four year old's hand.

"Yeah, daddy, it was fun!" Harry giggled, snuggling himself into me.

"That's good," I smile, picking him up and nesting him in my arms.

"Can I come back tomorrow?" he asks, still smiling.

"Yeah, yeah you can. And the rest of this year," I say, and he laughs his sweet little laugh again.

And before I could turn to go to my car, a voice pricked my eyes.

"Hey, wait, hey Ryan!"

I turn slightly to smile warmly at Brendon.

"Hey, Bren. Something wrong?" I said, fully facing the brunette.

"No, not really, just Harry forgot his hat," Bren says happily, holding his arm out, and yes indeed, there was a wolly blue hat in his hand.

I roll my eyes and shake Harry a bit in my arms.

"You could've lost that, you know. Say thank you to Brendon," I scold, but I'm not really mad.

"Thank you!" Harry chortles, already snatching the hat back and placing it firmly on his head.

Brendon's wonderful laugh fills my ears.

"It's alright, little man. So, I was thinking, we should get coffee sometime, or even come round to my house. That way, I could impress you with my musical talents!" Bren suggested, but he wasn't properly flirting with me nor was he giving me a suggestive look.

He was being earnest, and I had to scoff at the last part.

"What? I have musical talents!" he defends, stomping his foot childishly.

"Right okay then, I guess you have some proving to do," I reply, shrugging slightly.

"Yeah I do- Wait a min, was that a yes?" and he looks me in the eye and I know he's beaming inside as I watch his eyes sparkle.

"Yeah, I think it was," I muse, smiling.

"Great! I'm free this weekend, you?" he's practically jumping up and down.

Seriously, how old is he?

"Yeah I am. I could get mum to check on Harry. So yeah, we can meet in Starbucks," because who doesn't like coffee?

"Yeah that's great! Here's my number so text me when it's an appropriate time, yeah?" and now he is jumping, handing me  apiece of paper.

"Yeah, great, that's great. I'll see you then," I say, nodding.

He gives me another award winning smile before running off.

Did I just accept a date? I barely got out of my house besides work these past three years, and it takes a second for me to accept a date? With a boy? Whoa, that's new.
