The last half year has been very tough for Maeve, because of everything that happened with Brian, she lost interest in all her favourite things, she even stopped racing. Dom was heartbroken to see his little sister like this. Mae decided to go somewhere to take a break.

She remembered her friend from Miami, Tej Parker. She had every car she owned from him, so one day she decided to just go live with Tej in his houseboat in Miami. Although she missed her family and especially Letty, she experienced new adventures and made new friends in Miami. She couldn't be happier with her decision.

Mae got out of the shower, enjoying the fact that she was finally alone in the houseboat. Tej went away because he had a race to organize, so it was finally calm, at least for a while. Her phone started ringing, she wondered who was calling. She grabbed the phone from bed, it was Tej who was calling.
"Mae's not here" she said a bit annoyed.

"Don't make me clown Maeve, I have a surprise for you" Tej said into the phone quickly.
"What?" She asked with a confused tone.
"Someone's waiting for you" he said, hanging up the phone.

Mae wondered what he meant. She quickly threw on shorts and a top and ran to her Honda S2000, which she had the same as her friend Suki, just a different color.

When Mae arrived at the place, she saw Suki and Tej so she smiled. Next to Tej stood a tall blond guy with money in his hand. Her smile faded as she realized who it was. It was to Brian O'Conner.

"Is that..?" He asked Tej. Brian's eyes widened when Mae appeared in his gaze.
"In all her beauty" he replied, giving Brian a little smirk. She was still as beautiful as he remembered her, only her black hair had grown a little.

Mae got out of the car and just stared blankly at Brian and Tej. She didn't know what to do. Brian didn't know either, he felt the same way he did when he saw her for the first time. In love.

"Mae wait!" Brian shouted at her and followed her as she disappeared into the crowd of people. He could finally reach Mae's hand, so he grabbed it.
Mae avoided turning her face to him, because she was crying so she tried to hide it.
"Leave me alone, O'Conner" She shouted, struggling to break free from his tight grip.

"Maeve look at me!" Brian said loudly, not really wanting to scream at her. He grabbed her hands and turned her towards him.
"Fuck off" She said, her eyes started to get way more watery.

"Listen to me, Mae! Do you think I have forgotten about you?" Brian paused, as Mae nodded slightly. What was she supposed to say?

"Every night, instead of sleeping, I think about what I could have done differently. Mae, I swear to god, I've never stopped thinking about you since you disappeared in front of my eyes in the car with your brother! Yes, I know. I fucked up everything I could. I was dick for lying to you, but now I know that it wasn't worth it for some stupid job! They fired me anyway" Brian tried to confess his feelings. Mae was absolutely speechless.

A salty tears started falling down from Mae's bloodshot chocolate eyes. Was she supposed to slap him or kiss him? They stared at each other for so long that Brian's eyes began to get watery too.

"Brian, I can't save us." She said between tears, her breathing getting harder by every second. Brian stood there, looking at his girl. What did he do to her? He completely destroyed her.

"But I can and I will." Brian said quietly. He was as serious as could be, Mae finally believed him that he really meant it.

Mae did what she wanted to do for a long time. She wrapped her arms around Brian's neck and hugged him as tightly as she could. His hands went to her waist, it was the tightest hug these two ever had. Both missed the other's touch.

This beautiful moment was interrupted by the sound of police sirens. Fuck, Mae and Brian looked at each other and quickly ran to their cars.

Suddenly Brian lost control of the car, because of the disk that was shot on Brian's car, electromagnetic pulse caused shut down his engine. He could step on the brakes as much as he wanted but the car did not react. He hit a parking meter and Mae sent it right behind him because she didn't take a turn in the shock.

"Fuck it!" Mae shouted, hitting the wheel in anger.
Both cars were surrounded by police with guns pointed at them. "Put your hands behind your head!" they shouted.

"We know that you're Brian O'Conner, former L.A.P.D officer" Agent Markham walked into the interrogation room.
"You got the wrong guy" Brian lied, swinging on his chair slightly. Agent Markham raised an eyebrow at him. "Really?"

Brian looked in the window and he saw a very familiar man who was on his way to the interrogation room. It was Bilkins, his old boss.
"How you doin' O'Conner? Your girlfriend is in the other room, you two are unbelievable" Agent Bilkins said, putting his hand on Brian's shoulder.
"Let's take a walk" Bilkins said as he threw Agent Markham Brian's keys.
"But Maeve's is going with me" Brian pointed out to Bilkins, who rolled his eyes. He really needed that girl everywhere.

Mae, Brian and the other agents were in the debriefing room. Agent Markham showed them a picture of a man on TV.
"Carter Verone. He was born in Argentina, but has lived most of his life in Miami. Now he owns the biggest import-export business in the state. Unfortunately, the cartel's have been successful in getting drugs into Miami. But they've had a hard time getting the cash out. We've been surveilling him for a year but we've never been able to put him and the money together. We've swept his house, his warehouse-" Agent Markham explained.
"And nothing. I'm here just to help get them over the top" Agent Bilkins added, ending Markham's sentence.

"I was able to get an undercover agent working travel and statistics for him. Recently Verone put her in charge of finding some new drives" Agent Markham continued, he was talking about his undercover agent, Monica Fuentes.

"I have trauma from undercover agents" Mae joked. Turning her look to agent Bilkins, who was standing behind her. she referred to Brian, they both definitely understood what she meant by that.

Brian gave Agent Markham an annoyed look. He was already bored from all the police stuff.
"Look, it was FBI's idea to bring you here. I'm against it. But we need some good drivers that can put this asshole and his money together. You're gonna role with officer Dunn" Agent Markham told Brian when he noticed him being annoyed. Agent Markham nodded at the other agent.

"And If I don't?" Brian was clearly terrified by his potential co-worker, he looked like he didn't even have an idea how to drive a car.
"Here's a list of laws that you broke in LA. Obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting, you know the wrap sheet. We can make this all go away in the interest of justice, if you're willing to play ball" Bilkins handed Brian folder, then turned his attention to Mae.

"And you Maeve, You are lucky you're a long way from home. Besides, I know that O'Conner wouldn't have struck a blow without you" Agent Bilkins said very strictly. Mae was grateful that Agent Bilkins had told her this, if Brian hadn't been there, it would have been quite likely that Bilkins would have sent Mae straight to Lompoc prison.

"So what's the idea here? Dunn and I are supposed to play street racers?" Brian asked, rolling his eyes as agent Markham nodded at him "That's right"

"But I have one condition- The only way I'll do this is if I get to pick the drivers" Brian said, looking at Dunn.
Bilkins deeply sighed before his answer. "Alright O'Conner. Who you got in mind?"

"Her, she's the best driver in the whole business" Brian gazed over Mae, pointing at her with finger. This made Mae blush, she loved compliments like that and Brian knew that.

Agent Markham laughed, but his laughter was cut off by Bilkins "Seriously, he's right. She's Toretto" Bilkins admitted.
"Really?" Agent Markham's eyes widened at her last name. "Okay then. Her and..?" he completed his question.

"This dude I grew up with in Barstow," Brian paused, smiling. "Roman Pearce"
