It was around when percy was seven, he was with his mom and sister in a parent and child swim lesson "Ready?" Sally said to percy as the other kids swam with their parents "You have to let go, Percy."

"I can't," Percy said

"Yep. You really can. You just have to try." Persephone said

" I did try." percy pouts

"No, you didn't." Sally said "We have been in the same position for 15 minutes. Please. Come on. Just do it once with me."

"Can we go home now?"

"Percy, we paid for this class," Sally said. Persphone placed a hand on her mom and nodded to her to let her hold percy. Sally let Persephone hold Percy on the water" Hey goldfish, You know mom wouldn't ask you to do this if it wasn't safe, right?" percy nodded "It could be dangerous for you if you don't know how to do this. One day, it could be really, really important, and Mom or I may not be there to help you when that happens, so I need to make sure you can do it to be ready."

"Breathe," Percy said

"What? "

"Just breathe, Andy. That's what you always tell me to do." Persephone smiled and hugged him close "You both will always be here."

But when the hug breaks young percy is alone in a Desert "Mom?Mom! ANDY! ANDY!!!"

"Hello again, little hero." The mysterious voice spoke making percy turn to him scared "What sort of trouble are you up to now? Hmm? A forbidden child attracts attention. A forbidden hero? Well...They attract doom. She is coming."

Present

Percy wakes up from a bad dream panting and hears a train horn blaring he looks around and remembers that is on a train and exhales heavily.

"Hey, you asleep?" Percy said to which Annabeth answered " Yes."

"You and Thaddeus were really close, right?"

"Yeah."

"What was he like?"

"Why?"

"He was the last forbidden kid before me, right? He must've dealt with the same kind of stuff."

"He was tough. I mean, he knew he was a forbidden kid, he just didn't care. When Luke and Thaddeus found me, Luke cared for me right away. But Thaddeus... he made me earn it."

"Is that why you give me a hard time? I gotta earn it with you too?"

" Yeah. Maybe."

"I gotta say, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me."

"What doesn't make sense to you?"

"The way you guys all talk—the way the gods want us to think. Gotta burn an offering to get a parent's attention. Gotta beat up on Clarisse just to get my father to admit he's my father. It isn't supposed to work that way. People who are close to you aren't supposed to treat you that way."

"It's the same in mortal and magic world," Persephone said "How long you're awake?" Percy asked

"Whole time," she said, "to Annabeth  it is everyone who thinks that way right."

"Know my story?"Annabeth said to her "Yeah.....do you want to or..." "You can tell him"

"You wanna know how she ended up alone on the road in the first place?  started out as a gift to her father. That's how it works with Athena. They're born from a thought in her mind, and then given to a partner she feels connected to." Persephone said
