We parked two blocks away from the house because Mark didn't want anything to happen to "his baby". I killed the engine and nervously drummed my fingers against the steering wheel.
"You okay?" Mark asked as he was about to get out.
"Huh?" I did an internal face palm. "Oh yeah. Of course."
He smiled.
"Then stop looking so nervous and actually get out of the car so we can go."
I nodded and slowly got out, smoothing out my dress. I looked up to find Mark looking at me weirdly. I gave him a questioning look but he shook his head and held out his hand to me. My heart started to thump a bit crazily as I accepted his had. What did this mean?

Mark, as I had predicted, had left me to chill with his friends and to flirt. I was currently leaning against a kitchen counter, sipping from a Coke. I sighed, contemplating if I should take my phone out or not. Suddenly, someone burst through the door, gasping. It was Dylan, our school's soccer captain. He leaned against the fridge, catching his breath before looking up at me.
"Adaline?" He asked, clearly surprised.
"Uh, yeah. It's me alright," I squirmed, a bit uncomfortable.
He grinned and walked towards me. I could smell booze and perfume on him.
"You never struck me as the type to be in a party," he stated, looking for an answer.
"Well, I guess," I looked away, trying to think of an escapade.
"Yeah. Not a party person at all. You seem a bit lonely, were you abandoned here?" He questioned.
"Something like that," I shrugged. "Anyways why did you burst in through the door?"
"I might've accidentally pushed one of my bro's and his girl into a pool while they were in the middle of a hardcore make out session," he gave me a malicious grin. "Let's just say that he wasn't too happy about that."
"Wow," a smile creeped onto my face.
I would've loved to see that. Imagine the guy's face. Dylan pulled my out of my thoughts by asking something that I wish he wouldn't have.
"Hey wanna go chill with me and my friends? There's some girls," he offered.
"Nah, I'm goo-"
"You think I'm going to let you stay here and not have a good time?"
He grabbed my hand and started to pull my reluctant self away from the kitchen. He expertly swerved through the swarm of unstable, smelly, sweaty and most likely horny high school students. I cringed inside. Yep, parties weren't my thing. We went to the living room, where all of his friends were laughing and talking about nothing other than sex. I sighed. Boys. There were a group of girls who you could tell were doing some extreme gossiping. No thanks. I cringed as I saw some people making out, immediately looking away.
"Guys this is Adaline," Dylan announced, pushing me to his circle of friends.
Some guys gave me a look over, whistling appreciatively. One guy even asked me if I wanted to go upstairs with him. I shook my head and blushed, scooting closer to Dylan.
"Hey leave her alone guys, she's with me," Dylan slung his shoulder around me.
I squirmed, blushing even harder. Oh how I wanted to go home. I looked down and noticed that I still held the Coke can in my hand, and wondered how that was even possible. I lifted the can and took some huge gulps, hoping to calm my nerves. I choked slightly, feeling myself swallow something that wasn't supposed to be swallowed. My eyes grew huge. Oh no. I asked Dylan where the bathroom was and quickly excused himself after he gave me directions.
"Are you okay?" He asked, seeing my worried expression.
"Y-yeah. It's fine. I'll be right back," I lied, forcing myself to smile.
"Okay," he said, a bit suspiciously.
I quickly walked off, bumping into people. When my vision started to get blurry, I knew something wrong was definitely going on. I started to push people away, ignoring their protests and cusses, focusing on getting into the bathroom. I felt my tongue getting thick and my feet started to get wobbly.
I somehow managed to the bathroom, but before I could get in and close the door, I collapsed to my knees. I heard a far away voice asking if I was okay, but I barely managed to nod before everything went black.
