Wolf walks through the hallways of his great grandma's mansion. He was looking for something or someone. As he walks down the hallways, he sees tapestries of dragons and unicorns, but mostly dragons. Wolf opened two big doors that led into a big room filled with paintings and other stuff around the mansion. There was also a chimney with... a ladder in it. "That's weird," Wolf thought.

He got closer to the chimney, something about it felt...off. He walked toward the chimney and looked at the ladder, he wondered who put it there and why. He heard a creak, Wolf got startled a bit. This house was old, it's been in his family for a long time. He thought nothing of it. He decided to climb the ladder to see what was on the top. When he climbed on the ladder it was kind of shaking and Wolf felt a little unsettled and worried, but he still decided to keep going. When he was climbing it was like a forever loop he just kept climbing and climbing, and the ladder started to shake again. It wobbled and Wolf started to lose his grip. He felt someone grab the collar of his shirt and pull him down, the grip was tight, tight enough that he wouldn't fall and drop down to his death, and for him to not escape. Once down, and off the ladder he saw who grabbed his shirt, they gave him fierce eyes, and anger filled them. "What do you think you were trying to do Builder?" Wolf was turned with strong hands holding his shoulders making him look into his angry best friend's (and crush) eyes, Malroth.

Malroth looked Wolf dead in the eyes and growled slightly under his breath. "Well? Are you going to answer me?" Malroth asked angrily. "Is it obvious? I was climbing the ladder." Wolf tried to get Malroth's hands off his shoulders, but then Malroth moved his hands to grip Wolf's arms to make him stay still and pulled him closer. "Don't you know how dangerous it is if you climbed a ladder in a chimney and don't know why it's there? You could fall!" "Well, I was trying to see what would happen if I reached the end of the chimney, I was curious, plus the chimney wouldn't go anywhere. It was like a loop" said Wolf. "Well, it's dangerous! Very dangerous" Malroth said angrily. Wolf was annoyed. "Do you wanna maybe look around the house?" Said Wolf. Malroth narrowed his eyes at Wolf, knowing that he was trying to change the subject. "Well, I'm not falling for that. You're getting off-topic. Anyway-" Malroth says. Wolf interrupts Malroth. "Blah blah blah." Wolf yawned, "I'm tired," said Wolf. Malroth rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Why are you even here anyway?" Malroth asked, finally letting go of Wolf "I could ask you the same thing, but anyway. I was looking for you." "Ok...." said Malroth with an annoyed look. They both walked to the living room with all the cobwebs and dust everywhere. "Wow! There's so much dust here and cobwebs!" Wolf said. "Can You handle it? Or do you need me to save you again?" Malroth said angrily and with an annoyed face. "Ha, ha, very funny Mal" Wolf said, which made Malroth growl under his breath a bit while his ear slightly twitched.

"I forget why I'm friends with you Builder," Malroth said rubbing his temples "Cause you were being bullied because of your cool features" Wolf gestured to Malroth's ears and eyes, "I still don't even understand why they would do that to you, you're amazing and cool. That's what I saw" Wolf turned to look at Malroth and gave him a warm soft smile. Malroth's ears drooped a bit with a hint of pink at the tip of them, he stared at the ground. "You were also the only person who I could be myself" "What was that?" Wolf asked Malroth as he sat on the sofa, surprisingly it was still intact and comfy. "Nothing." Malroth walked to where Wolf was sitting and saw him reading the book that he carried with him everywhere. Wolf had his head down and didn't even notice that Malroth sat next to him, Malroth saw Wolf's glasses slightly slide to the tip of his nose. A hint of blush slightly formed on Malroth's face at how cute Wolf looked with his glasses on his nose. Then Malroth leaned on the armchair of the couch and put his legs on Wolf's lap, trying to get his attention. And it worked. Wolf started, "Do you mind? I'm reading." Malroth thought for a moment, tapping his finger on his chin. "Ok geez, can you chill? I was just helping you!" Malroth sighed as the room fell quiet. Wolf looked up at Malroth, after reading his book. "What? I am just reading! I am trying to get some peace and quiet around here!" Wolf said tiredly. "Then rest on me" Wolf blinked at Malroth "What?" "lay on me, if you're tired then." A small hue of blush formed on Wolf's face. "Wh-why in the world would I-"

"Boys! It's time for dinner!" Malroth growled under his breath, "Coming Dad!" Wolf yelled back to his father. "What's for dinner anyway?" Malroth asked as he got up from the sofa and started following Wolf. Wolf shrugged, "I'm not sure." Wolf and Malroth walked through the hallways until they reached the kitchen (which both Wolf and Malroth thought was a bit too fancy) and saw Wolf's dad setting down the food "IS THAT MCDONALD'S?!" Wolf yelled happily, and his father nodded "And don't worry Malroth, I got your favorite too" Malroth's eyes dazzled. "Wendy's?" Wolf's father nodded. "Thank you, Uncle Hunter." "Anytime," Wolf's dad said. Malroth and the rest of the family ate the food. " Wow! That was good! If I eat 1 more bite my stomach is gonna explode!!" Wolf sighed " Me too," said Malroth. Wolf's mother laughed. "You boys still act the same as you were kids" "Mom!" Wolf whined in embarrassment.

Wolf's father laughed. "Wolf, can you help me put away the dishes?" Wolf's mom said. "Sure! Be right there!" Wolf usually did what he was told but something compelled him to go back to that ladder. "Wolf what is it..." Malroth said in a low suspicious voice. "I know that face". "Well it's just tha-that." Wolf stuttered. "The ladder?" Malroth said, unsurprised. "How do you know that?!" Wolf said surprisingly. "You're my best friend, of course I know what you're thinking," Malroth responded, boasting. Wolf scoffed. "Oh please, don't act like you weren't thinking about it either." "Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't," Malroth said, darting his eyes back and forth. "Alrighty then let's get on out of here and go climb that ladder!" Wolf exclaimed. Malroth looked at Wolf sternly. "You will NOT be climbing that ladder" Wolf sighed. "Come on Mal! We haven't had an adventure ever since you...you know? Went into the hospital..."

Malroth's face darkened. Malroth got sick one day, very sick.
