CHAPTER 2
*entirety of this chapter is a flashback*"You look silly wearing that."
Alejandro lounged casually on his bed, his gaze flickering over Mateo, who stood in the middle of his room clad in a daring pink suit. The vibrant hue extended seamlessly from the jacket down to the perfectly coordinated pink bowtie and even the meticulously chosen pink shoes. Despite the bold fashion statement, Mateo remained unperturbed, his expression cool and collected.
"I am doing this for your little sister, may I remind you." Mateo pointed out.
Alejandro scoffed and rolled his eyes as he motioned his eyes on his Nintendo DS, "Lucia always had these stupid parties for the smallest thing."
Mateo sat down besides Alejandro, "It's not stupid and definitely not small. She's finally turning sixteen! An important celebration into becoming a woman"
Lucia Diaz, the first daughter of the Diaz family, was finally turning sixteen and wanted to her debut to be a huge celebration.
Alejandro still glued on his video game, "Who cares? Sixteen is just an age. All people go through it." He said with a sarcastic tone.
"You're also going to be wearing a suit you know." Mateo reminded him.
Alejandro adjusted himself, "Yeah, but it's not puke pink like you're wearing right now." He said as he got up from his bed and walked towards his closet.
"Uh, Lucia specifically told us to wear pink." Mateo pointed out.
Alejandro ruffled his long thick dark brown hair, "Well, unlike you, I don't follow rules. Plus, I don't have time to go out and buy a pink suit." He nonchalantly said as his gaze never left the screen.
Alejandro, at a young age of thirteen, became even more rebellious like a dog that just got out of his cage. His rebellious streak extended to cutting classes, often preferring the thrill of driving through the city over mundane school routines. Maybe it was normal after all, considering most teenage boys go through this phase. However, for Mateo, he never dared to become a problem to his mother. He remained just as obedient as he was when he was a little kid, shouldering responsibilities without allowing them to cramp his dreams.
Mateo crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, "You spent your time playing video games and practicing racing with your dad."
"Exactly, that's why I am busy."
"When will you ever be serious with life Alejandro?" Mateo asked as he stood up and walked towards him.
"Hint. Never." Alejandro simply said and winked at Mateo.
That small gesture of flirtatious action made him blush. He quickly looked away to hide from the obvious shade of red forming on his face.
"Are you okay? Why are you hiding your face?" Alejandro asked with an eyebrow raised.
Mateo turned back and shook his head, "Nothing, I thought I was about to cough."
"So, can I see your suit?" Mateo asked, turning the topic around.
"You'll be seeing it tonight. I can't wait to see your faces when I wear this bad boy!" He said as he plastered a devious devilish grin across his face.
Mateo did not like the mischievous gleam etched on Alejandro's face. Having grown up with him, he had been witnessed to some of the most audacious pranks Alejandro orchestrated. From spiking the other maids' meals with fiery hot sauce to playfully flipping off the lights just as someone stepped into a room, Alejandro's pranks always left a trail of laughter, surprise, and sometimes mild chaos in their wake. He wondered what type of prank he will be pulling during Lucia's party. Let's just hope that it isn't as bad as the other things that he pulled before.
