"Hello Nanny! Where are you right now?" He asked over the phone.

"Joe, we are on our way to the hospital." The lady who was in her mid-seventies replied.

"Nanny tell daddy to come quick, I don't like my mommy's condition~" He could hear his seven year old son cry over the phone.

"Nanny is that Jessi's voice?" He asked.

"Yes Joe..... Madam just collapsed when we were having dinner." She replied.

"Not again." He cursed inwardly. 'Okay, give him the phone.' He said after a while.

"Okay Joe~ Jessi, your daddy wants to speak with you." She said handing the phone over to the boy.

"Hello Jessi are you there?" He asked when the silence on the other end was becoming unbearable.

"Yes daddy.... Where are you? Are you already on your way? Please come back quick." The little boys' cry were like thorns piercing through his father's heart.

"Je... Jess.... Jessi! Can you please stop crying?"

"But da...." His father cut in on him.

"I know Jessi, but..... I'm gonna need you to be your mommy's brave little hero, okay?" He assured the sobbing boy.

"Okay daddy." Jessi replied sniffling his nose and wiping his tears with the back of his hands.

"Alright give the phone back to Nanny." He added.

"Okay." And with the little Jessi handed the back to the elderly lady sitting right beside him.

"Hello Nanny!" He said before he took a U-turn down Crimson Street.

"Yes Joe."

"Which hospital are you guys heading?"

"City hospital Joe and don't worry too much the doctors are attending to her already." She replied.

"Okay I'll be right...." He said shortly went off, he look up to where he had mounted; it seems like Alan was calling. "Nanny, I'll be there." Was all he said before answering the incoming call from Alan his secretary. "Speak!" Came his cold voice.

"Doctor Miranda, you have an appointment with an emergency pa...."

"Didn't I tell you earlier to cancel all my appointment?!" His voice thundered making the man on the receiving end stiffened for a second.

"But Sir..."

"Cancel it!" And with that he ended the call, loosened the tie around his neck before he accelerated the car straight for City Hospital.

At City Hospital

"Nanny, how far has the doctors gone about her health?" Dr. Joel Miranda asked as hurriedly walked up to a woman dressed in a black and white poker dot gown.

"They haven't said anything since." She replied titling her head up to look at the young man standing beside her. "They've only been going in and out." She added.

"Damn it Penny! What happened this time?" His trail of thoughts was cut short the moment the theater door swung open.

*************

"Nurse Vicky, Dr. Adams is asking for Mrs. Delvins's medical file." Sandra a fellow nurse informed.

"Did you check the file cabinet?" Was all she said with her eyes still glued to her computer screen.

"Yes but it wasn't there."

"It's supposed to be there; I kept it there myself" She replied angrily.

"Then why don't you go get it from where you said you kept it." Sandra tried to infuriate her; she always does whenever she's on the same shift with her and wasn't a fan of such type of music. "Oh and when you do see the file do me the pleasure of handing it to Dr. Adams, okay?" And with that she left.

*************

"Dr. Adams, here's the......' She said opening the office door only to discover no one was there. "Did Sandra pull one of her dirty pranks on her again?" She thought. "Whatever" She rolled her eyes before dropping the file on the desk and walked out of the office.

She had just taken some few steps when she came to an absolute stop. Was that a child? Thinking she was wrong she hurriedly went back to confirm her suspicion.

"It was a child." She breathed at least her mind was playing tricks on her like the previous day.

Looking closely at the child, it seems like he had cried himself to sleep. Poor thing. She wondered where he came from. What was she saying this was an hospital after all. But, where are his parents?

"He must have a relative around here somewhere." She thought squatting in front of the child. "What an angel you are. I wonder what made you cry so much?" She thought playing with his hair that had a unique color of sky blue and gray with the shade of red and black on the left side of his face. It seems like it was dyed by either his mom or dad. Too bad she couldn't she color stripe was on the other side of his face.

"Ouch...... Sssss......!" She sucked in some cold air when something snapped at her finger. Wait a minute, a while ago her fingers were trailing the dried tears from the child's face. That means...

"Stay away from me!" The little angel..... No that's an understatement.... This little devil just bit her and is now running away. But where does he know that he's going? She couldn't just let him go on his own.

"Hey kid, hold on...!" She immediately raced after the child, this little rascal just kept running. What was he made of? Nuts and bolts.

*********

"Joe, what did the doctor say?" Nanny Bell asked immediately she caught sight of Joe stepping out of the doctor's office.

"Well the doctor said she was over thinking again and that it isn't good for her health." Joe replied breathing down heavily while he leaned his back against the wall. "Beside, where's my little boy? I haven't seen him since I arrived."

"He's ri...." She turned to her side smiling but soon she was horrified to see that the kid wasn't beside her as she had thought.

"Nanny~ where's Jessi?"  His father asked as it dawned on him that his little boy wasn't beside the elderly woman.

"He was here a minute ago but I think he slipped away when I wasn't looking." She bowed her head as the feeling of shame and embarrassment watched over her. "I'll go look for..." She was about standing up but, Dr. Miranda stopped her in her tracks.

"It's okay Nanny; I'll go look for him." He assured her. He knew that at this at her age she ought to have retired even though she took care of him as a kid she still volunteered to look after his little boy simply because she derived pleasure in caring for children. And beside, even if he is to release her from her duty, he didn't know where to find another person capable of caring for Jessi like she does. He knew he was just being selfish and that was why he suggested she rest well while he went in search of stubborn little Jessi.
