After a week,
Sidhu stands in the middle of the living room, a checklist in hand as he surveys the room. The excitement of the impending trip to the mountains fills the air.
"Alright, let's see," Sidhu mutters to himself, scanning the checklist. "Clothes, check. Toiletries, check. Snacks, check."
He moves methodically around the room, gathering items from various corners and shelves, his mind racing with thoughts of what lies ahead.
As he reaches for a backpack hanging by the door, his gaze lingers on a framed photo of Sara and the kids, a bittersweet smile tugging at his lips.
"We're going to make this trip unforgettable, just like the ones we used to take," Sidhu whispers softly.
With renewed purpose, Sidhu continues his preparations, making sure to pack extra blankets and warm clothing for the chilly mountain nights. He checks and double-checks the list, wanting to ensure they have everything they need for a comfortable and enjoyable trip.
"Okay, my loves, I think we're all packed and ready to go!" Sidhu announces, his heart swelling with love for his children.
Sam and Sia cheer excitedly, their faces beaming with joy. "Yay, let's go daddy!" Sam exclaims, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
As Sidhu, Sam, and Sia pile into the car, excitement bubbles over, filling the vehicle with an infectious energy.
"Alright, everyone buckled up?" Sidhu asks, glancing back at his children with a playful grin."Ready, daddy!" Sam exclaims, his eyes sparkling with anticipation as he eagerly adjusts his seatbelt.
Sia nods enthusiastically, her curls bouncing with each movement. "I can't wait to see the mountains, daddy! Do you think we'll see bears?" she asks, her voice filled with wonder.
Sidhu chuckles at her enthusiasm, his heart swelling with love for his curious little girl. "Maybe, Sia! But don't worry, I'll keep you safe," he reassures her, reaching back to give her hand a reassuring squeeze.
As they pull out of the driveway and onto the open road, the landscape begins to change around them, the familiar sights of home giving way to rolling hills and winding mountain roads. Sam and Sia press their faces against the windows, eager to take in every new sight and sound.
"Look, daddy, cows!" Sam exclaims, pointing excitedly out the window as they pass a field of grazing cattle.
Sia gasps in delight, her eyes wide with wonder. "And look at the trees, Papa! They're so tall!" she exclaims, her voice filled with awe.
Sidhu smiles at their excitement, feeling a sense of joy wash over him as he watches his children marvel at the world around them. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" he says, his voice tinged with emotion.
What starts as innocent sibling banter quickly escalates into a full-blown argument, with raised voices and flailing arms filling the small space.
"Daddy, Sam won't share the toy with me!" Sia complains, her lower lip trembling as she shoots her brother an accusing glare.
Sam crosses his arms defiantly, his face flushed with frustration. "It's my turn, Sia! You always get to play with it first!" he protests, his voice tinged with irritation.
Sidhu sighs, feeling a headache coming on as he tries to navigate the escalating tension between his children. "Okay, okay, let's calm down, you two," he says, his voice calm but firm as he tries to diffuse the situation.
But Sam and Sia are too caught up in their own anger to listen, their voices rising higher and higher as they argue over the toy.
"Daddy, make Sam give it to me!" Sia demands, her eyes brimming with tears as she turns to Sidhu for help.
