"Okay, as soon as you get this, come straight to me!" She nodded as she heard the clicks of the keyboard as he yelled the last of his words, "Sorry for yelling, I'm just excited. Alright, it went through. Look out for it, and I'll see you soon." the two exchanged goodbyes before the room was silent again. That was two days ago.
Now she was sitting on a plane going who knows where to meet who knows who because she didn't even know. But here she was still going anyway. It was too late then, and to top it all off, she couldn't stop fidgeting or overthinking. She had gone over scenarios of how to get an immediate flight back as soon as she landed, but then she would talk herself out of it and repeat the process with a new scenario in its place.
She had finally gotten the last of her luggage off the carrier and was trying to find the exit to get to the taxi lane, but she wasn't experienced in this—any of it. Yet again, here she was, still going through it. Why? She didn't know.
She watched the airport disappear as the taxi pulled away from the curb, out of the lane, and into traffic. Before she could process the scenery, the cab stopped as instructed, two blocks away. After thanking him and watching him pull away entirely after making a U-turn, she began trekking to the correct address, "Ain't nobody gone have my coordinates memorized?" He echoed in her head as he explained why she should stop a few blocks off. She was glad it was cold as the cold air cooled her sweat.
Finally making the journey up the long driveway that felt about a block long, she got to the door and rang the doorbell. She adjusted her coat and sweater underneath before the door slowly opened.
"No!..." was the only thing she heard before the door closed.
She didn't waste time being sad or upset by that expected response, but she knew she had to try; more blessings would come that way. Even if her feelings were hurt right now, it would subside soon. She didn't waste time being sad or upset by that expected response, but she knew she had to try; more blessings would come that way. Even if her feelings were hurt right now, it would subside soon.
She would need to get away from this scene right now. She turned and braced for the walk back down the driveway walkway and the block's journey to call the taxi she hoped was still nearby once she got there.
She hadn't noticed it but she was no longer holding her suitcase, and her unoccupied hand was being held, and on top of that she was turned around and was now entering the house that had been so inviting and then quickly uninviting just mere seconds ago. After she focused, she noticed the man placing his phone into his pocket after finishing his conversation. He led her up a staircase, only stopping once they were inside of a gorgeous room,
"Uh, we are having our first group dinner later, so if you're still here, you should come because you are invited." He reminded her where he had left her suitcase and left the room, closing the door behind him, and the door opened again,
"I'm Joe, by the way. Joseph, whichever you prefer." He tapped the doorframe where he held it, then left again, the door closing behind him.
"Nice to meet you." She whispered to herself.
Sometime in the evening, "Joe" came back to the room, knocking lightly as it was going into mid-evening. He thought she could be sleeping, as he hadn't seen her since that morning.
"Ion BB G. You got a show that you wanna watch?" He glanced back at her, sighing loudly when she nodded. He stood up quickly, "Hold on. I'll be back."
She huffed because she caused his frustration had she not asked about the TV he would have been so upset. Her concentration went back to him as he entered the door again.
"I figured it out." He sat in his previous position underneath the television, "Hand me the remote with the TV name on it, please." His hand reached out as he wiggled his fingers. Thanking her as he made one final adjustment and then without much thought he sat next to her and with one click the screen was on and working fine, "Now what channel is your show on?"
This time she shrugged, "I'm not from around here." He nudged her, earning a laugh from her and the two giggled together as he allowed her to take control of the device and flip through the channels.
His head found its way to her arm as he sort of lay on the bed with her arm as support. He leaned up as her skin vibrated as she exclaimed," I found it." and when he faced her, " and it did t start yet." He smiled happy for her.
"You wanna watch with me? Since you helped me?" He contemplated if he had anything else to do before he settled into watching a new show with his new friend. "Also, how was your dinner? I forgot to ask you."
"I'll tell you when I get back. How long until the show?"
He left her room, and hustled down the hallway and into his room, "I see you BabyJoe, what are you doing?"
He heard before he could close the door. Joe stood at the doorway explaining how he couldn't talk he only had an hour to get ready which led to more questions and he knew that the interaction was eating into his time to get ready.
"I don't mean to cut you off but I really only have an hour.""Okay, but where are you going I can drive you of you need to get there soon. I'll even wait for you while you're there." The man inquired and offered his help.
"No, I'm staying inside but I want to be at my best. She gorgeous dude and I don't want to mess up with her!" Joe's voice echoed as he shouted from the closet and then moved into the bathroom, quickly turning on the showerhead.
Kentrell sat on the bed confused, more questions forming in his head as the man showered.
