The Opera

The Opera House was full of the ton standing beside The Queen and Lady Danbury was The Princess Royal Solveig all the attention was upon her she wore a royal purple gown with a braided bun and her tiara, when most of the time she spent listening to her aunty nagging and Lady Danbury enjoying her suffering. She wished she was spending time with the children but Simon stole them away leaving no excuse to turn down her godmother and aunt. Then she spotted Daphne Birdgerton her spirits lifted her godmother and aunty follow her gaze.

"Lady Bridgerton! Do join us" Lady Danbury exclaimed Daphne was pulled toward them by her mother the Viscountess both bowed to the Queen and Princess Royal. Misha once again felt that pull but she pushed it out of her mind focusing on the present.

"Your Majesty you must remember my daughter, Daphne " Lady Bridgerton spoke while Daphne bowed again Misha gave her an encouraging smile

"Yes, she made quite an impression... however fleeting it may have been." The Queen snorted starting to walk away while Misha stayed with behind

"I would like to welcome you both to my box this evening I insist as both of the girls have made fast friends as well" The Lady Bridgerton seemed slightly surprised by this

Both ladies sat closer to the railing while Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton sat slightly behind them.

"They are saying her husband will not live till the end of the month."

"Surely another rumor provided by that vicious, scandal-mongering write." muttered Lady Bridgerton "should her degradation know no bounds?"

"Lady Whistledown writes about my family too. Yet I suppose the Duke can withstand such scrutiny, since he is after all a man while the Princess has only positive words written about her." Lady Danbury murmured

"His Grace was fortunate to have you there with with as a child after what happened with his mother. Awful! And her Highness after her husband passed" spoke empathetically Lady Bridgerton watching both ladies converse

"He is not what Whistledown writes."

"Nor is Daphne"

"It would seem the two of them have that much in common, then matches have certainly been made with far less while her Highness could help things along."

"What are you suggesting?" questioned Lady Bridgerton

"Lady Whistledown merely writes what she sees. Perhaps we need to help her see to things a bit more clearly."

"The Duke is quite fond of gooseberry pie and the Princess is fond of chocolate pudding."

"The very dishes my cook is renowned for." They both laughed cunningly while Misha had an amused yet exasperated expression she knew her godmother did not forget she could hear their entire conversation but knew better than interfere Simon was on his own with this one. The Princess should have known better where one of them goes surely the other will follow.

While back at Lady Danbury's estate in the nursery Simon let a soft sneeze and the three children turned to him.

"Someone must be-"

"Talking about you Uncle Simon" the twins said while the little girl giggled

"Let us hope I do not find out who then" Simon huffed then the four went back to playing
