Down Time

Gunner woke up sweaty as he had to take a nice long shower which didn't wake Petra up strangely.

After that Gunner walked in to the bedroom and saw her deep asleep on the bed to which he thought was cute as he rubbed her shoulder and pulled the blanket over her.

He soon walked out and began to make some breakfast as everyone else made their way in.

"Alright, yesterday was something especially for you Gunner, that was quite the drop, I'm surprised we didn't see you next fall." Roman says as Gunner deadpans at him.

"Fuck you Roman." He said as he flipped him off.

"Alright you two, let's just think of something else to do today, one that doesn't involve walking around and falling down a long flight of stairs." Tolani said as Gunner put some cookies in the oven.

"How about a game day?" Techie suggested.

"I'm down, theirs a gaming room a bit away, even a vr set." Alqamar says.

"What's a vr set?" Petra asked.

"It's virtual reality, it's complicated to explain so it will be easier to just show you." Gunner says as he picked a pear up and began to eat it.

"Oh, okay but uh what is gaming?" She asked again.

"I'll explain it to you on the way." Techie said as Petra smiled.

"Hey Gunn why don't you make us something sweet for the game day." Joey said as Gunner threw an iron pan at his skull as he went down.

"Fuck off Joey, and it's Gunner, that isn't even my nickname." Gunner says as he and Petra cleaned up so they would be late.

"Gunner are you feeling alright?" Petra asked him.

"Yeah, why do you ask?" He answered.

"You look like you have something on your mind right now, is it serious." Petra says as Gunner looks around cautiously as he sighs before approaching her.

"I think theirs something up in this bunker, basically theirs a sleeper agent here and they have orders to terminate all new humans, meaning you and Cole." Gunner whispers as she went wide eyed.

"Terminate all of us, but why, what did we do to deserve this?" Petra asked panicking.

"They believe you're false humans or something and want you gone some fucking racist bullshit." Gunner said as she began to hyperventilate.

"Just because we're new human doesn't mean-" Petra began as she sat down and was on the verge of crying as Gunner hugged her close to his chest as she let it all out on him.

"I promise I won't let that happen to you Petra." Gunner said as she embraced him tightly.

"Thank you Gunner." She said as she just laid there for a bit as he rubbed her hair as he looked around with his other hand on his pistol.

After a while like this Petra stood up as she rubbed the last of her tears away.

"Thank you Gunner for just being there for me." She said as he stood up.

"No problem Petra, but you should also talk to other members like Tolani she's nice." Gunner says as she gives him a warm smile.

"Thanks Gunner, maybe I should try to start up a conversation with her." She said as they made their way but Gunner stopped as he turned around since he heard a low growl.

Petra turned around to see him staring off.

"You okay Gunner?" She asked.

"Yeah I thought I heard something." Gunner replied as she tugged on his arm as they continued on.
