It was a rainy evening. Kunikida sat at his desk trying to focus on paperwork, but kept glancing out the window impatiently. Stoker was supposed to visit tonight, but the downpour was delaying him.
Just as Kunikida was about to call Stoker, there was a knock at the door. Kunikida hurried over and found a rain-drenched Stoker standing there with an apologetic grin.
"Sorry for the delay, got a bit wet out there," Stoker said sheepishly. Kunikida shook his head in fond exasperation and ushered him inside.
After getting Stoker dried off and into warm clothes, Kunikida prepared hot tea for them both. They settled on the couch together, Kunikida fussing over Stoker to make sure he wasn't catching a chill.
Stoker took Kunikida's hand, halting his concerns. "I'm fine, love. Thank you for taking care of me." Kunikida blushed but gave Stoker's hand a squeeze.
They spent the rest of the night reading together, Kunikida occasionally sneaking glances at Stoker. The quiet companionship was precisely what he needed after a long day. Having Stoker close relaxed him more than anything.
As it grew late, Kunikida shifted to rest his head in Stoker's lap. Stoker gently stroked his hair until Kunikida's eyes drifted shut in contentment. The rain pattering softly outside only added to the cozy atmosphere.
"Stay tonight?" Kunikida murmured drowsily. Stoker smiled down at him. "Of course, darling." He placed a tender kiss on Kunikida's temple as they both settled in for the night. In the morning, Kunikida awoke slowly to the feeling of fingers carding through his hair. He blinked his eyes open to see Stoker gazing down at him fondly.
"Morning," Stoker said with a warm smile, leaning down to press a kiss to Kunikida's forehead.
Kunikida grunted in reply, still not fully awake. He shifted to bury his face against Stoker's chest, not quite ready to get up yet. Stoker just chuckled and held him close, letting him rest a bit longer.
Eventually the smell of coffee brewing coaxed Kunikida out of bed. He shuffled to the kitchen, where Stoker was making breakfast for them both. Kunikida came up behind him and wrapped his arms around Stoker's waist, murmuring his thanks into his shoulder.
Over coffee, toast, and omelets, they discussed their plans for the day. Stoker promised he would stop by the agency later to see Kunikida again. The domestic intimacy of the morning left them both reluctant to part ways.
But duty called, so eventually Stoker had to leave. At the door, he pulled Kunikida into a lingering kiss. "Have a good day at work, love. I'll see you later."
Kunikida smiled, already looking forward to it. The warmth and joy Stoker brought would keep him going through anything the day brought. After sharing a tender goodbye kiss, Stoker headed out for the day while Kunikida got ready for work at the Armed Detective Agency. Though apart, thoughts of their sweet morning together lingered for both of them.
Later that afternoon, as promised, Stoker stopped by the office to visit Kunikida. Kunikida's stern expression softened into a smile when he saw Stoker walk in.
They shared a discreet brush of hands before Kunikida had to get back to his paperwork. Stoker didn't mind, happy just to be near him. He occupied himself reading on the couch in Kunikida's office.
When Kunikida finished his work, he joined Stoker on the couch. Stoker wordlessly lifted his arm to make space for Kunikida to tuck himself against his side. Kunikida sighed, the tension of the day dissipating.
"How about I make us dinner tonight?" Stoker suggested. Kunikida agreed, looking forward to more cozy time together.
Later at Kunikida's place, Stoker busied himself cooking while Kunikida set the table. Soon they were laughing over a delicious shared meal, the candlelight atmosphere only adding to the romance.
After cleaning up, they settled together on the balcony to gaze out at the city lights. Kunikida shivered slightly in the night breeze. Stoker wrapped a blanket around them both, pulling Kunikida close to keep him warm.
Kunikida nuzzled against Stoker's shoulder, feeling truly content. Moments like this reminded him how lucky he was to have such a caring partner by his side. The next day, Stoker surprised Kunikida by showing up at his office with a picnic basket in hand. "Thought we could have lunch in the park together," Stoker said with a grin.
Kunikida tried to protest that he had too much work to do, but one pleading look from Stoker crumbled his resolve. "Well, I suppose a short break wouldn't hurt..." he conceded.
They settled under a shady tree, Kunikida marveling at the delicious spread Stoker had prepared. Over their meal, Stoker entertained him with funny work stories, making even stoic Kunikida chuckle.
When Stoker noticed Kunikida seemed stressed again, he moved behind him and began massaging his tense shoulders. Kunikida groaned in satisfaction, feeling the knots melt away under Stoker's strong hands.
"Better?" Stoker asked. Kunikida gave a rare fully relaxed smile. "Much. Thank you, I needed this."
After their idyllic lunch, neither wanted to part ways. But Kunikida regrettably had to get back to the office. Stoker walked him back, their hands brushing discreetly.
At the door, Stoker pulled Kunikida into one last quick kiss. "Dinner tonight? I'll cook again," he offered hopefully.
Kunikida's expression softened. "It's a date," he agreed, squeezing Stoker's hand before heading in. His heart felt full from Stoker's thoughtfulness and care.
The rest of his workday flew by in anticipation of seeing his beloved again that evening. Stoker truly made even the most mundane days magical.
That evening, Kunikida arrived home to find Stoker already busy cooking up a storm in his kitchen. The heavenly aromas immediately made his mouth water.
"Smells amazing in here," Kunikida said, coming up behind Stoker to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Stoker grinned over his shoulder. "Hopefully it tastes as good as it smells! I found a new recipe I wanted to try out tonight."
While Stoker cooked, Kunikida opened a nice bottle of wine for them to share. Soon they were sitting down to a delicious meal together, the conversation flowing as easily as the wine.
After cleaning up, they retired to the living room couch with their refilled glasses. Kunikida settled comfortably against Stoker's side as they chatted and unwound from their days.
When Stoker noticed Kunikida stifling a yawn, he gently guided his head to rest on his lap. Stoker's fingers stroking his hair soon had Kunikida nearly nodding off.
"Why don't we head to bed, love?" Stoker suggested softly. Kunikida agreed, allowing Stoker to lead him by the hand to the bedroom.
Curled up together under the covers, exchanging lazy kisses, they were both unwilling for this magical night to end. But they had all the time in the world to create more perfect moments together.
The next morning, Kunikida awoke wrapped securely in Stoker's embrace. He smiled softly, cherishing the feeling of Stoker's steady heartbeat against his back.
Careful not to disturb him, Kunikida turned over to face Stoker, gazing at his sleeping features in the early morning light. Unable to resist, he placed a feather-light kiss to Stoker's lips.
Stoker's eyes fluttered open at the touch. "Mm morning," he mumbled, voice still husky with sleep. He drew Kunikida closer, returning the kiss unhurriedly.
They stayed like that for a while, trading lazy kisses and caresses beneath the sheets. The outside world could wait - right now it was just the two of them.
Eventually though, the morning sun streaming in signaled it was time to get up. With great reluctance, they untangled themselves from the cozy nest of blankets.
While Kunikida showered, Stoker prepared a simple breakfast for them to share. Over coffee and toast, they discussed their plans for the day ahead.
Too soon, it was time for Stoker to leave. At the door, he pulled Kunikida into one last lingering kiss. "Have a good day at work, darling. I'll call you later."
Kunikida smiled happily. "Can't wait. I love you."
"I love you too," Stoker said warmly, squeezing his hand before departing. Kunikida's heart swelled, treasuring those precious words.A few weekends later, Kunikida decided he wanted to plan a special day out for Stoker. He booked reservations at Stoker's favorite restaurant and bought tickets to a new exhibit at the art museum Stoker had mentioned wanting to see.
When he told Stoker about the plans over breakfast, Stoker's eyes lit up. "That all sounds wonderful! But you really didn't have to go to so much trouble just for me," he said, though clearly delighted.
Kunikida just smiled and took his hand. "It's no trouble at all. You deserve to be pampered and enjoy yourself."
Their day started with a delicious brunch. Afterwards, they spent hours wandering the art museum, Stoker animatedly discussing the pieces with Kunikida. Kunikida didn't care much for art, but listening to Stoker's passion was a joy.
For dinner, they indulged in a decadent meal, talking and laughing together late into the evening. Stoker's grin never left his face the entire day.
On the way back home, Stoker pulled Kunikida into a secluded corner and kissed him deeply. "Thank you for today, it was perfect," Stoker said, eyes shining with happiness.
Kunikida's heart swelled seeing the joy he could bring his partner. "Anything for you," he replied, meaning every word.
They ended the evening slow dancing in each other's arms, both hoping the magic of this day would never end.
