You call an Uber to take you home. The call scared you to death, honestly, and you're afraid of what's to come next.

You don't even want to be involved in this drama between Alina, HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D., but now you have to be because of a grave mistake committed by a redhead spy. She's the reason you don't feel safe walking into your apartment right now, listening closely to every single sound and watching out for any kind of movement.

A loud meow makes you flinch, then you calm down when you see Snap walk up to you. "Hey, bud", you say tiredly. "You okay?"

He purrs, following you into the bathroom. There you shower quickly before going to bed, knowing you won't be sleeping too well that night.

. . .

S.H.I.E.L.D. leaves you alone for a while, which is a relief. You spend your days working, studying and going out with friends whenever you have the time to. But, sadly, this isn't permanent and you find yourself in a difficult situation just weeks later.

You can sense something is off right when you're leaving campus, walking towards the bus station to go home. It's late in the evening already and you're alone as you're approaching your destination, hopeful not to meet anyone else. You're tired.

You put your hands into the pockets of your jacket as it's still cold outside, which is horrible for your skin. You shiver as you hurry up, knowing the bus is arriving in a few minutes.

At first, you don't register the footsteps following behind you. It takes a bit until you finally notice and turn around, your eyes wide when you see Natasha. "You're coming with me", she just says as you both stop walking.

"You didn't even say hello", you say reproachfully.

"Hello. You need to come with me." Her eyes are dark as she looks at you. "Fury wants to talk to you."

"No." You sound snappy.

"I wasn't asking, Y/N. The jet is waiting and we don't have forever." The woman tilts her head and gives me a smirk. "I'll even drive you home again."

"Look, I'm not involved in any of this. Just...leave me alone." You turn around, walking away from her. The bus is arriving soon and you need to get away from her.

"This is an order. You have to-"

"I don't have to do anything, goddamn it. I don't know you."

"You would help us. A lot."

You stop and look at her. "Yeah, sure. It's not like you've got a whole team taking care of the HYDRA situation. I'm not dumb, Natasha."

"You've got inside information."

"So? You're a spy. Get that information yourself."

"Please."

You look at her — her green eyes are a lot softer now and the coldness has disappeared from her face. You swallow, knowing that eventually you'll cave.

. . .

You do, in fact, end up caving.

She flies you to the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters in a jet and, luckily, she seems to be much better at flying than at driving. The flight is silent and short, which you're thankful for — it's not like you're in the mood for talking.

Soon enough you find yourself in the middle of some buildings, people in uniforms walking around everywhere. You swallow as you see an older guy with an eyepatch walk up to you, a brunette woman following behind him.

"Romanoff!", he calls. "Is that...?"

"Yes, sir. This is Y/N." She glances at you and gives you a light push.
