Strange room with a Window

I couldn't remember when I had gotten myself trapped in this strange, small, silver, room. It was what one might imagine a padded cell to be like. Granted I've never seen a padded cell, only heard of them.

Just enough room for me to lay all the way down in any direction, or stand on the tip of my toes. I had even attempted a handstand once, out of sheer boredom I assure you, and I almost broke my toe.

The only way out, a window into a hallway of a small house. I think it was mine? At least one time ago it was mine.

It was the open part of the hallway, near the top of the stairs. An oak railing let me see a tiny bit of the floor below. When I had enough light that is. The wall on the other side was right above the front door.

Yes I had tried to break the window, but since I only had my own body, it never worked. Even if it had, I doubt I'd be able to squeeze my body through that strange oval hole.

There's others in this house, supposedly moved in once I got trapped. A small family of a married couple and two kids, the boy is about 10 and the girl has to be at least 15, she's nearly taller than both her parents. They're a sweet family, and relatives often visit. Mainly the wife's brother and his newborn, as well as the parents of both sides. I've reason to believe that the father is an only child because of this.

The kids are loud, either arguing or playing, I can't tell. The girl is very smart, she often recites things in front of the window. That's how I learned she was in highschool, and also what a padded room was. I assume she does speeches or acting.

The little boy often avoids the window. I'm not sure why. He looks scared of it.

They'd pass by the window and look in at me, I'd look back. They'd brush something off of their face & I felt compelled to do the same.

But If they can see me, they don't act like it. I've come to think I may be invisible.

Sometimes I'd stand with my hands on the glass, staring out while the others slept. Thinking I could possibly break the walls down & find myself in the house. But I'm not very strong.

Besides, I doubt it will be worth the splinters.

But one day I didn't stand in front of the window, I suppose I slept in. and woke to a scream. It was the father of the house, staring in horror at the window as he called his wife and kids. They came up and looked at the window, puzzled and horrified.

I finally stood up in my usual place and tilted my head. They screamed again and this time the little boy threw his plane at me.

The window smashed into a thousand pieces on their floor as I felt a great pain in my entire body.

Everything went dark after that.
