A/N: I'm used to writing straight relationships so this fem/fem pairing is out of my comfort zone but here we go
7BBY
"Sun!"
"Moon!"
A girl with warm brunette hair and one with icy blonde collide in a hug.
~
"Dreya."
"Mama?"
"I need you to run."
~
A man watching Inquisitors ravage another home. They drag a young child from her bed. A girl watching from the crowd.
"Shin," she whispers.
"Let me go!" The other girl yells. "You killed Dreya!"
The Sun and Moon separated, with only lost memories connecting them.
~
"Where are we going?"
"Naboo."
"Why?"
"Just trust me."
~
"Hello." Ahsoka kneels in front of a small girl on a damp rooftop.
"Hello."
"Where are your mother and father?"
"Bad people with swords wanted me."
"Did they hurt your family?"
"Yes. Mama, and Papa, and Sissy."
"Why did they want you?" Ahsoka knows why the Inquisitors wanted her. She wants to know if the girl knows.
"I special."
"Really?"
"I saw the bad people while I sleeping. And when I wake up, they coming. Then fire."
"How old are you?"
"When bad people come, two. I count days. But I cans onwy count 10. So after 10, start over. I count 15 tens and four days."
"Where do you live now?"
"Evwywhere. I small and fast. Run. Hide. From bads."
"You want to stop running?"
~
The girl falls asleep in Ahsoka's arms on the way to the ship. The woman tucks her in before returning to the bridge. Once the ship is in hyperspace, she turns to Huyang. "I need to search Naboo local records for a fire between four and five months ago. See if there's a list of victims."
"Here we go. 'Zira family- pictured left to right, Arek(28), Be'Anna(26), Clasia(4), and Dreya(2)- dies in a fire set by an arsonist, who was never found.'"
"See if you can find a birth record for Dreya."
"Dreya was born on the 89th day out of 350 days in the standard year 10BBY. She is now three years old- an ideal age for a Youngling."
"Yeah." Ahsoka agrees.
3BBY - 7 years old
Dreya stands in the center of an open area in the shuttle with a visor over her eyes and mufflers covering her ears. Ahsoka walks around the room, stopping in random places. When she stops, the child turns to find her before they repeat the process.
This is how they spend much of their free time. Strengthening Dreya's trust in the Force. Other days she wears the visor and uses a wooden sword to deflect low-level stuns being shot at her from two floating orbs that are constantly moving. The Jedi always started and ended their day with quiet meditation, something the Dreya had difficulty in the beginning with because she always saw the vision of the Inquisitors killing her family and burning her home.
Ahsoka taught her that while the Inquisitors sought power and used the Dark Side, the Jedi sought peace in the Light. That was why they meditated.
Sometime later, Dreya was entrusted with a Kyber crystal, and she built her saber under Huyang's watchful eye. Her weapon came out to be a mix of blue and green, something that the droid said he rarely saw in all his years. He told her the green meant she had a strong mental connection with the Force, and it would help to fight with her words and mind. The blue meant she could use her power to give her a boost with her fighting and swordsmanship. He said she would make a "well-rounded Jedi."
Ahsoka often thought she saw both Obi-Wan and Anakin in her Padawan. The calm negotiator, but ready to fight at a moment's notice should things go awry. "Aggressive negotiations," as Anakin used to call them.
Dreya trained every day, even when Ahsoka insisted she could rest. She was always moving, insisting she needed to be ready. She could feel something calling to her. Ahsoka insisted it was the Dark Side, and she needed to resist the call.
They had both felt the call before. Ahsoka when she left the Temple, Dreya when the Inquisitors came. The call she felt now was different.
It didn't feel dangerous or tempting. It felt like home.
