It had been two or three days since Floyd and Creek had serendipitously crossed paths at the small pond, and since then, Floyd found himself irresistibly drawn back to the same spot, eager to continue their conversations and delve deeper into Creek's enigmatic world. Creek, on the other hand, had taken some time to adjust to Floyd's presence, gradually letting go of his initial reservations. He knew that in order to proceed with their plan, he had to open up and trust Floyd. After all, Floyd was the key to his success, and Creek couldn't achieve his goal without him. However, a sense of unease gnawed at Creek's mind, as he feared the potential consequences of his actions.
Sitting side by side on the edge of the small pond, their feet submerged in the cool water, Creek and Floyd engaged in a seemingly ordinary conversation. The gentle rustling of leaves and the soft gurgling of the water created a serene ambiance around them. They took a moment to appreciate the beauty of their surroundings before Floyd finally broached a certain topic that had been on his mind.
Floyd turned his head to look at Creek, his eyes filled with curiosity. "So, Creek, why do you choose to be out here all alone?" he asked, his voice gentle yet inquisitive. He couldn't help but wonder why a troll would willingly isolate themselves from others.
Creek's gaze shifted from the ripples on the water to meet Floyd's inquisitive eyes. He took a deep breath, contemplating how much he should reveal. After a brief pause, he decided to share, hoping that Floyd would fall for this lie.
"Well, I just prefer to be alone instead of being around others that are cruel to me" Creek began, his voice tinged with a hint of 'sadness'. "I've hidden away, afraid of the judgment and rejection that comes with being a troll."
Creek's fingers absentmindedly traced the patterns on the water's surface, he lied through his words, he knew that if he told Floyd the truth.. this plan would never work out.
Floyd listened intently, his eyes filled with understanding. He reached out and gently placed a hand on Creek's shoulder, offering silent support.
A small smile tugged at Creek's lips, a glimmer of hope shining in his eyes. With Floyd by his side, he felt the power rush through him, this was going to be easy for him. The manipulation was working.
Floyds mind quickly swung to a question and before he thought about it, it was blurted out
"Do you ever miss them..?"
Floyd's question hung in the air, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves around them. Creek's eyes met Floyd's, and he couldn't help but notice the genuine concern in his friend's gaze. Creek scooted a little closer to Floyd, a small gesture to bridge the gap between them.
"I miss them," Creek admitted, his voice tinged with a hint of longing. "But going back right now... it's complicated. There are things I need to figure out, things I need to confront within myself before I can face them again."
Floyd nodded, understanding the weight of Creek's words. He respected Creek's need for space and time, knowing that healing and growth were essential before any reunion could take place. They both sat in silence, their thoughts intertwining with the fading light of the day.
As the sky darkened and the stars began to twinkle above them, Floyd couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity bubbling within him. He wanted to know more about Creek, to unravel the layers of mystery that surrounded him. But he also knew that trust needed to be built, and that rushing into sensitive topics could potentially push Creek away.
While Floyd was thinking about all the questions he wanted to bombard Creek with, Creek was having his own thoughts. He was smirking to himself and he knew all of this was going to work out. He knew that soon his plan would be in motion and Floyd was going to be wrapped around his finger. The lies we're working and he was going to take advantage of the troll that sat next to him.
