Every night, they slept exactly the same. Lindy naked, laying on Brady's chest. His life was the epitome of perfect, now. Brady's steps felt lighter, the air felt fresher. Everything was brighter and it had been two months since Lindy moved in and Brady was the happiest he'd ever been.
Lindy had got her cast off last week and was ready to ride. Brady knew he wouldn't be able to keep her off Honey for long - who was absolutely thrilled to see her again. Brady and Lindy prepared to take the two horses out for a leisurely ride this evening.
Lindy met Brady at the door when he came in. "Ready?" She grinned. Brady laughed at her enthusiasm. She'd went into town and bought a pair of boots, since she was staying she'd need them. She was already dressed, her long black hair in a ponytail, she was wearing tight jeans, a t-shirt and her new boots.
"Just a second." Brady said, brushing past Lindy and running up the stairs. "Gonna get a long sleeved shirt. It'll be cold after the sun goes down. You want one?"
"Yeah, grab me one. I'll go ahead and saddle the girls." Lindy replied, heading out to the barn.
Brady lied. He was going to get a new shirt but only because he needed a pocket that wasn't in his jeans. He didn't want to risk losing the package hidden away in his underwear drawer and knew he wouldn't if it was in his shirt pocket. Brady breathed in a deep breath and grabbed the velvet box. He opened it up for inspection one more time. It was Heidi's engagement ring. He'd asked her for it last week when Lindy went to get her cast off and had a girl's day with Sadie.
He secured the box in his pocket and grabbed a hoodie for Lindy so he wouldn't blow his cover. He met her in the barn and she already had Penny and Honey saddled. "Now, I'm ready." He smiled, reaching the same Herring Springs Football hoodie she wore the night they kissed in this very barn.
The couple took off on their respective horses. The ride started leisurely, but then Lindy got that look in her eye. Brady figured this would happen, it was her first time riding since the wreck. With her signal, Honey took off in a sprint. Brady laughed and Penny galloped lazily behind. He was letting Honey and Lindy enjoy their time together. A wide smile crossed Lindy's lips as they ran around the field, Lindy's whipping wildly around her.
Brady wondered if he'd ever stop looking at her like it was the first time he'd seen her, if her beauty would ever stop making his heart skip a beat, if that laughter would ever stop making his knees weak. Brady laughed to himself, he knew it wouldn't. He'd go to his grave looking at Lindy like she was still that seventeen year old girl. That's why he was asking her to marry him.
Lindy and Honey slowed down and Brady and Penny caught up. "Let's stop up here for a minute." Brady suggested and Lindy obliged, the spot being near a creek where the horses could drink.
Lindy hopped off Honey and immediately came to embrace Brady, who created a little distance between them. His heart raced, fearing she'd feel the little box in his pocket. "Something wrong?" Lindy asked, worry crossing her face.
Brady felt bad for causing her to worry, but he was just so nervous. There was always the possibility she could say no. Brady's smiled nervously. "No, Lindy, for once.. everything is right."
Brady dropped to one knee in front of Lindy and pulled the box out of his pocket. Lindy gasped as she wasn't expecting it. She figured they'd get married, but didn't know when Brady would ask her. "I love you, Lindy Grace. More than anything on this earth. I've spent too much of my life without your. Even one day is too much. Would you please do me the honor of finally being my wife?" Lindy cried happy tears as she stared down at Brady. "'Marry me, Lindy."
"That's why you needed a new shirt. It's hot as hell out here. I should've known you were lying." Lindy blabbered. Brady chuckled, waiting for an answer and getting kind of nervous. Lindy realized she hadn't ever answered him. "Yes, B. I'll marry you!"
Brady jumped up and grabbed Lindy, spinning her around and around till they were both dizzy. Lindy cleared her voice as Brady finally set her down.
"You're actually not the only one hiding something." Lindy laughed, "I wanted to tell you out here, too, so I guess we had the same plans."
Brady cocked his head to the side. What could Lindy be hiding? "What, were you gonna propose to me?" Brady joked.
Lindy bit her lip. "No, actually. I'm pregnant, B. 8 weeks."
Brady's mouth fell open. She must've got pregnant the night she moved in. "Are you serious?" It wasn't planned but Brady was thrilled - every dream he'd had for him and Lindy when he was a teenager was finally coming true.
"Yeah." She laughed. "Apparently the antibiotics I was on for my hand cancel out birth control. I found out when they took my cast off. They wanted to x-ray my foot and required a pregnancy test first." She pulled out an ultrasound picture from her back pocket. "I'm just as surprised as you are. Don't worry, Doc said it was safe for me to ride."
Brady took the ultrasound in his hand and examined in, still in complete shock. There it was, a little dot no bigger than a bean. His baby. Their baby.
"I can't believe this." He laughed, grabbing Lindy by the hips and pulling her towards him. "I love you so much, Lindy Asher." He emphasized her future last name.
"Mmmm. That sounds nice." Lindy grinned against his lips before kissing him.
Just two months later, they were having a shotgun wedding on the ranch. Lindy got the boho dress she always wanted. Heidi was completely flustered with how fast the wedding was threw together, but happy. The two of them had waited long enough.
As they danced their first dance, Brady and Lindy had an idea of how to announce their pregnancy planned out. Lindy had the ultrasound rolled up in her hands, which were around Brady's neck. As they swayed and danced in a circle, Lindy dropped the ultrasound down Brady's back for the whole wedding to see. She made sure Heidi was the first to see.
"OH MY GOD!" Heidi screamed happily, causing Gentry and Sadie, next to her, to jump.
Brady and Lindy were finally getting their forever after.
