Y/n was a troubled child in their youth. Bullied at school for their mental disability, they sought to fit in. They had become "friends" with the bad kids of the school. The same kids that once bullied them. The other kids didn't really see Y/n as a friend, more as a way to get free money and entertainment. Y/n's father, William Afton, had recently opened a business with his friend; which had quickly taken off.

Y/n went from being one of the poorest kids at school to the richest. Coincidentally Fredrick, their main bully, suddenly invited them out one day and had them all pick masks of Y/n's father's creations. Y/n picked the mask of Foxy, an animatronic made as a gift to Y/n on their 14th birthday. They began to call themselves the Tormentors and began picking on other students. Y/n had never been part of a normal friend group, and didn't see why this was a bad thing to do. They eventually began to pick on their younger brother and sister; not realizing it was not how you should bond with your siblings.

William should have scolded Y/n, but he couldn't. William saw what they were doing as fine; because when he was a kid he did much worse. William's mind had always been off. He was a genius, but he seemed to also be an egotistical sadist. He was caught drowning the class pet in his 5th grade class. He killed a kid when he was 15 by pushing them off a cliff, but the authorities ruled it as an accident. Only when he turned 16, did he learn to mask himself.

What a mask it was, quickly gaining a girlfriend in a woman named Evelyn, and a best friend in Henry. He would marry Eveyln and have his first child as soon as he got out of highschool. Unfortunately his first child and wife died in child birth. He felt sadness for the first time in his life that day, and the mask began to crack. He spent nearly 6 years learning to build robots at a university, all so he could test a hypothesis. In the end; he would be distracted. He fell in love with another woman. Her name was Roslyn. He had his second child and third with her. Y/n and Evan. He thought he would grow to love his children, but he seemed only attached to his wife and Y/n. Evan, who he named after his first wife, was neglected.

Tragedy struck when Y/n turned 4, the same year Evan was born. Roslyn was struck by a car and died. William mourned, but never lost his focus on his child. He realized that while he could use a mask, that mask wasn't the best parent. He would soon remarry, this time with a woman he barely knew. Clara. He had Elizabeth with Clara. He loathed both of them, bit stomached his hatred for Y/n's sake. He viewed them as the missing pieces of a perfect family. When Y/n began to misbehave, he simply ignored it. He would scold Evan for crying and Elizabeth for bothering him, but Y/n was his perfect child.

He had special days with them, celebrated their achievements, and comforted them when needed. Meanwhile, Elizabeth grew resentful. She had her mother's love, but craved her father's attention. Why did her older sibling get the love that she should have deserved? She was just as good. She began to mimic Y/n after a while, beginning to also bully Evan.

William and Henry opened up Fredbears when Y/n was 12, Evan was 8, and Elizabeth was 3. They opened up Circus baby's pizza place a year later and made a tv show of the upcoming Freddy Fazbears pizzeria. William designed Foxy for Fredbears, but couldn't get the design ready in time. He wanted to surprise Y/n on their 12th birthday by creating an animatronic based on their interests; foxes and pirates. Unfortunately, he couldn't get the ai to work in a safe way, so Foxy was delayed until Freddy's would be opened. Y/n still loved the character in the show atleast, making William proud.

William also made Circus Baby to get Clara off his back. She was upset with the favoritism and demanded William create an animatronic for their child. She didn't demand one for Evan, but she probably believed the Fredbear was for Evan; with how much he loved bears. In reality, Fredbear was created by Henry for his son Sammy. William wouldn't bring that up though, not wanting to be yelled at again. His favorite was Spring Bonnie, his first creation. He hoped that he could eventually add it to the show as the father of Foxy, that way he could show everyone his love for Y/n.

Overtime; William grew more obsessed with his child. He began to sneak cameras and microphones into their room, backpack, and frequented areas. He thought that Y/n hated Evan, due to the bullying, and created a new device. It was way beyond its time in 1983; the illusion disc. It could create a holographic illusion on any attached surface. He placed it on the prototype for Funtime Freddy and would create nightmarish versions of his show characters, sending them to torment Evan. He would do anything for Y/n, and if Y/n wanted to scare Evan; he would make it easier to do. He didn't have long to test his device before the accident.

Y/n was convinced by their "friends" to pull a prank on Evan. Y/n let it slip that he had become afraid of the animatronics recently, having nightmares of them. Clyde, another of Y/n's friends, had come up with idea to place Evan's head in Fredbear. Y/n knew it was dangerous, listening intently to their father's lessons on springlocks, but wanted to fit in. A couple seconds wouldn't hurt as long as the springlocks were tightened. William, hearing Y/n agree through the microphone, devised a plan. His original experiment, which he had once scrapped, came back to the forefront of his mind after Y/n tripped and got a concussion. He couldn't live without Y/n and began to experiment with the idea of trying to discover immortality.

He got to work, deciding to knock out 2 birds with one stone, and began to construct a new animatronic. Ballora, who would join Circus Baby. His plan was genius, no one would ever guess his involvement. He even managed to get Henry away from the business for a few days, offering to watch over it while he took a vacation. He smirked to himself as he finished his preparation.

Screams. That is all that William heard. Crunch. That is all Y/n heard. Evan was dead, head crushed by the bears jaw. Y/n may have not been the one to kill him directly, but they wouldn't know that. William would build them back up, console them, and make sure they didn't break. His plan was perfect; he got rid of 2 annoyances while gaining a reason to spend an insane amount of time with Y/n to "mourn". While William smiled, Y/n was paralyzed. They couldn't believe what happened. They didn't believe what happened.

That same day, Clara had committed suicide via hanging. Y/n wasn't arrested, but their friends had been. William seemed unbothered by both, but did seem upset that Y/n was upset. He was confused, didn't Y/n also hate Evan? Maybe Clara dying made them upset? Oh well, that just meant he had to spoil them even more. He would make them forget those 2. Meanwhile his experiment worked. Ballora attacked him, seemingly out of no where, but he knew why. His darling wife wasn't happy he murdered her.

William spent an insane amount of money bribing officers and a judge to keep Y/n out of jail. His business was shut down temporarily. He knew it would be worth it. Y/n grew extremely attached to him, seeking his comfort. Now there was just 3 more things he needed to deal with before he could complete his experiment and live with his family forever.

He needed another genius plan. He stared at a blueprint for hours, one that he spent months making. Circus baby. 'Maybe', he thought, 'it would be easier if the test subject was captured by the experiment.'
