••••••••••••I hold up the bottom part of the bikini Kaia had lent me, my lips parted as I look at it.
Is this supposed to cover anything?
"Good morning!" I jump, startled as my mother bursts into my room abruptly.
I quickly stuff the bottoms into a suitcase, even though I'm never going to wear them, and my mother fortunately doesn't seem to question it. "Feeling any better today, sweetheart?"
My head lowers and my cheeks warm with embarrassment. "Mom.. I was fine yesterday and I'm fine now." I mumble, folding clothing into my suitcase.
She rolls her eyes. "You weren't fine when you cried into my shoulder for an hour str-"
"Momma!"
She raises her hands in surrender. "Okay, okay! You were fine." She laughs softly, running a hand through her long black hair. "Have you packed everything?" She tilts her head.
I hum and nod. "Yup. Sunscreen, clothes, hairbrush-"
"Lingerie?"
My jaw drops and I toss a top at her. "Mom!" I scold as the embarrassment sets in.
She crosses her arms and leans against my bed. "Sometimes it's a wonder that you came out of me." She mutters while shaking her head. "I was crazy!" She laughs.
I huff and sit on the edge of my bed. "Yeah well.. so am I." I mumble, glaring at her.
She raises an eyebrow. "When?" She snorts.
I groan and toss another article of clothing at her. "Out!" I yell.
She rolls her eyes and playfully throws it back at me. "Mhm, have fun!" She chuckles. "Me and your father are probably still going to be gone when you get back."
I look up at that. "Huh? Why?" I mumble, still folding.
Maybe I was overpacking.
She hums. "Got a call from my editor, she has a job opportunity for me in Italy." She smiles.
My shoulders drop. "Italy?" She nods and I run a hand through my hair. "Well- how long?"
She shrugs and sighs. "I'm not sure. Maybe a month give or take?" A month?!
I stand up and walk closer to her. "Are you sure? Because last time you were only gone for like- two weeks?"
She places her hands on my shoulders and shakes a bit. "Then give. I cant pass this up sweetheart." She sighs guiltily. "You know if it was up to me I'd stay home with you forever."
