Later that day Mr Collins called I, Elvis and Xavier to his office to inform us about the return of Mrs kola and her daughter.
"Good day y'all" Mr Collins said
"Good day sir" we echoed
"I hope you know why you are here, miss Freda Mrs kola's daughter will be resuming our school, she's in your classes... You are the top 3 in your class Mrs kola instructed me to bring you here. Her daughter is new to the country so I want you all to help her in terms of academics" Mr Collins said before quickly added "I'm I clear"
"Yes sir "we replied
"You can leave now" Mr Collins said then we left without questioning him
"I thought Esosa will join us, she was the Highest last session"I did
" I bet you I'm going to be the highest this term I am definitely going to pass you and Esosa"Xavier replied in a boasting way
"I pray if you can pass me, better manage your 4th position"I replied
" I'm always third I don't know why, but thank God I don't even have to competite with any of you"Elvis said
"Instead of you to pray of passing this book worm Hilary, you are enjoying 3rd position" Xavier replied to Elvis comment
"Well the position is not meant for anybody, who ever works well for it gets it"I said in a very smart tone
"That's true talk" Xavier replied in a silly tone and started laughing.
We laughed together and went back to our class.
FEW MINUTES LATER
I went to read with Elvis but oshare was there I traded him but he refused.
"Oshare can you please trade me I want to sit with Elvis"I said to him very nice
"I was here first so you may leave I can't trade you"oshare replied,I felt disappointed and went to sit with David instead, David was so quiet so I decided to break the silence by questioning him
" Hey David" I said politely
"Wassup"David replied in a sweet tune
"So what are you listening to?"I asked David
"Black and Blue by Sia" David replied
"Oh my gosh,Sia my favourite artist" I said excited
" Cool"David replied before quickly added"can I ask you a question"
"Sure anytime, just ask"I replied calmly
"How does it feel being among the top 5 students in class"David asked
"Ehm I'll say it's like a dream come true for me" I replied
"Hilary"David said and held my hands I felt cold it was like he was going to kiss me then he added immediately"you are so brilliant, keep it up"he gave me a thumbs up
" Thanks David"I replied sweetly and gave a sigh of relief
"So what's up for the weekend"David asked curiously
"Ehm weekend, I'm going out with Elvis"I replied
" Ok, I get" David said. He was fun to be with though I observed a little things about him:he likes being quiet and somehow nossy too.
I left his seat then went to the girls meeting where Esien, Sussan and Amanda were discussing.
" Hi girls I'm going to meet the prep perfect in her class, do you want to come with ?? " I asked
"I will like to come you"Esien replied
"Okay let's go" I said
On our way going we started gisting
"Esien so how are you copping with oshare" I asked in a troublesome way
"Forget about oshare...... What were you discussing with David in the class earlier" Esien replied in a gossip way
"Oh that, I'll gist you everything later"I said
"Ok, now let's go and meet senior Sarah"Esien replied.
We went to SS3 class on getting there the class was very quiet, some people were on their phones while some were reading. Then I thought to my self ' Are this not the students writing their WAEC in some moth close, unserious students' I focused on the main reason why I was there, I greeted them and went straight to senior Sarah's desk.
"You sent for me senior" I said and Esien was busy gazing at the classroom like that was her first time entering their class
"Yes Hilary you may sit, j actually called you because I want to to take over from me as prep perfect"senior Sarah replied
"You want me to be prep perfect, isn't prep perfect given nominee "I asked her
"Prep perfect is transferred in some school and even our school, you can be the head perfect and even prep perfect,just like senior precious transferred prep perfect to me and I was also elected as deputy head perfect"senior Sarah replied
"Does the school support it" I asked
"Of course, Mr Collins even suggested that for us because prep was falling then and the only way to rise prep up was to choose a perfect and that perfect will transfer the perfect post to whoever he or she likes" senior Sarah replied
"I'll be the prefect it as always been my dream"I said
"Okay, I'll see you later"senior Sarah replied
I remembered when I was in JSS1 I always told my classmate that being prep prefect will do me, immediately a thought flip through my mind from when I was in JSS1' I so much love prep, I which I could be the prep prefect one day ' the day has finally comes.
I hold Esien and we went outside, outside their class I and Esien was discussing
"What did she tell you Hilary"Esien asked
"I knew you were not listening,when you were busy gazing at their class like that was the first time you were entering the class....."I replied harshly
"Hilary stop beating around the corner and tell me what she told you" Esien said
"Ok fine, she transferred her prep prefect position to me"I said
"You will talk to me about that later too, did she not tell you about their prom night"Esien asked
"Why would she..... Esien I will advice you wait until our senior year before you start thinking about prom" I replied calmly
"I think senior Amina is contesting for prom queen"Esien said
"Isn't she Davids sister and what make you think she will be contesting" I asked
"I know senior Amina too well, she will contest for prom queen"Esien replied
"Prom is a dance party for senior year student in high school"Esien added
"Prom is a dance party held by students in their senior ends year" I replied
Whatever;dance party, parties they are all the same"Esien said then we continued our argument until we get to our class.
