"no wike it" y/n yells, tossing her box of crayons onto the floor.
her dinosaur coloring book quickly joins the crayons as she angrily swipes it off the table.
y/n's eyes swell with tears as she releases a loud, distressed wail.
"honey, what's the matter?" billie asks, concerned.
y/n's screams turn silent as she draws in a huge breath and is so infuriated that she unintentionally refuses to release it, a shade of blue developing upon her lips.
y/n did this when she was extremely upset, angry, or overwhelmed. she struggled to cope with difficult emotions, so she would wind up having an involuntary breath holding spell.
it made billie feel sick to her stomach, but through the advice of y/n's psychologist, she knew how to resolve them in a calm manner.
"hey, hey, hey, take a big breath" billie coos, scooping y/n up into her lap and taking a seat on the couch.
y/n's eyes flicker as she teeters on the verge of passing out, her mouth hangs open slightly, but no sound manages to escape.
"come on, baby, you need to breathe" billie says, gently blowing cold air into y/n's face.
with the gust of cold air hitting her, y/n suddenly gasps, her crying continuing as some color returns to her face.
"oh, good girl, well done" billie commends y/n, holding her tightly against her chest.
y/n clutches onto billie, grabbing fistfuls of her shirt, tears still flowing down her little cheeks.
"those were some really big feelings, huh? do you think you can tell mama what happened?" billie asks, slowly rubbing up and down y/n's back.
"n-no wike it" y/n pants, trying hard to communicate through her tears, it was obvious to billie that she was not ready to talk yet.
"y/n, i need you to take a big breath for mama" billie encourages.
"w-w-wan binky" y/n cries.
"okay, baby, mama will get it for you" billie says, reaching forward to collect her pink minnie the mouse binky off the coffee table.

billie holds it to y/n's lips, and she immediately accepts it into her mouth and begins to suckle on it, humming in relief as she lays her head back down against billie's chest.
billie soothingly sways y/n side to side, threading her fingers through y/n's silky curls, which still smells like coconut and vanilla from last night's bath.
"would you like to try again at telling mama what made you feel so upset?" billie asks, now that y/n had calmed down.
"pink cwayon no come ow da bosth" y/n lisps through her binky.
