TTT and water sports were fun. They never thought they would have this fun. The weekend was a huge blast, and there was no doubt all of them enjoyed them, up until the last day.
On the last day, something happened, and after that, people with good "눈치" could say something in the air had shifted, and Jeonghan and Seungkwan were the first to notice. But they were still having civil conversations, right?
Wrong... The moment Dk left TTT without seeing shua or saying goodbye, they finally started to understand the severity of the situation. But then again, maybe Shua was sleeping, and he didn't bid goodbye to scoups as well as other members. That's what they kept on saying. And not to forget, they were still talking to each other.
Then, caratland rolled in, and when they were practising for "Love Letter," hell broke loose. It was Seungkwan and Hannie at first, and then all the members could see them brawl. They couldn't understand what they were arguing about, but all they could hear was, "He did it first."s echoing. It got so bad that now it was evident they weren't talking to each other property. They both were just trying to act civil in front of the camera, but still, they avoided each other as much as they could.
Day one was awkward, but good day two was kinda strange, but it still somehow went on. The fight was between Dk and Shua, but somehow, it kept on messing with Jeonghan as he was close to both of them, and it had him stressing and he was having mood swings because of it. Coups noticed it and even offered him a beef brisket and fried rice treat. After two beer, he started talking. " i really can't with them anymore. It's almost been like... forever since they were arguing, and I'm the one who's in between these. I can't even pick my side. And if i do, I'm the villain. Or maybe i should, so at least they will stop their stupid argument and be together for once. Hufffffff, I'm so tired. I dont wanna go back to the dorm today."
"Should I talk to them for you then?"
" Noo No No don't even try to. They've been civil and good in the group though and if you go talk to them all of a sudden then they'll probably get moody with you too or just plain blame me for gossiping about them to you. Uhhhhh, I'm so tired. I don't wanna leave. It's nice in here. " and gulp a whole glass of beer nervously.
Jeonghan was predictably tired, though the scene was visibly cooing and cute (jeonghan smiling and letting his head sit on his hands on the table resting with his eyes closed, his cheeks all red because of the drinking. He's visibly drunk) Coups couldn't see his getting stressed like that. He carried Jeonghan to the cab. Both of them, one the back seat and Hannie's head resing on Cheolie's shoulder.
Even in the sleep, he kept on mumbling," Don't fight. Please, guys. Don't fight. Pleeeeeeseeee." He was slurring it the whole ride. It was cute, but it was stressing his angel. Finally, he tucked him to the bed and changed his sleeping side so he'd stop dreaming the same thing, and it might well work as he could see a smile playing on his sleeping face.
Tommorow rolled in, and when they reached the shoot area, they could still feel the tension. Cheol couldn't take it anymore, so he just went to Shua first.
"I can't do this anymore. Till when is this cold war going to last, huh??"
" until he mean it and says he did it first . He was the one who started it."
" he's younger than you. He has been apologising, though."
" Yeah, but not for the right reasons. It's like having a headache, but you're given antacid for it. I know he's a sweet heart, and he'll do nothing wrong, but I find it all wrong and him not taking the fall for it. And it's not about the apology this time. It's about principles. I for once want him to take creditibility of something wrong he did in his life instead of just shifting blames and joking around it like it's something unserious." And then Shua dashed away from there, Coups just staying there. He hadn't seen Shua that worked up in a long time. But he had to settle it , so he went to the younger who was with Seungkwan talking about today's game.
" Can I talk with you about something?" He said to Dk and Seungkwan, though nosy got the hint and moved out of the scene.
"Yes, hyung, what is it?"
" When is the cold war between you and Shua gonna end? You know I'm not pateint enough for all these kinds of things. I was okay as long as you guys and the group were okay, but now that members are getting affected, i can not let it go. Deal with it till the end of today."
"But hyung, I have been apologising to him for hurting him, and he's the one giving me the cold shoulder. But if you say so, I'll try to talk to him again after the game."
"You better do it and end this once and for all."
They nodded to each other. The game began from oldest to the youngest. Everyone had their turn. When it was Joshua's turn, Mingyu started talking about the argument. Dk started to explain his part on how Shua tried to blame on him when he was apologising for hurting him when he was the one initiated it, Shua hurt from the exchange didn't talk for a whole time. When Dk took the bed, he explained his part of how he first tried to push him in the water or otherwise the fight wouldn't have ensued, and he wouldn't have gotten hurt. When the first round was on, everyone started chanting how if Joshua and DK were off the hook, they needed to reconcile.
The results were finally announced, and Jeonghan, Shua, and Dk were the winners. Dk and Jeonghan hugged each other immediately, but when Shua came to hug them, he dogged Dk. Dino and Wonwoo, as always, were clulessly staring at them as they didn't know how bad the fight was, but all of them sighed in relief when they finally hugged each other.
They went to take off their microphone when Dk suddenly asked Shua if they could talk before going home, to which Shua nodded. When the microphone was removed, they went to the spare room to talk. They were both quiet for a while, and then Dk started.
"I'm sorry for what happened at TTT. I shouldn't have tried to drown you without your consent despite your persistence. I didn't know it would be this bad. I really am sorry, though. Hopefully, we will resolve our problem and move forward."
He finished, but Shua kept on staring at him without saying a single word, so Dk just tried to leave. Shua then finally opened his mouth but then closed it again.
When Dk looked back at Shua, he had no words to say. His accusation was hurting him, but his silence was the one going for the kill.
“Can I hug you?”
That’s what Dk managed to say. To which Shua without missing a beat, just leapt into a hug. Both were silent, no words, just the action was there to justify. Finally, the silence broke, and it was Shua.
“When you didn’t say goodbye to me before you left that day on TTT, I got scared.” They broke the hug, Shua still not meeting Dk’s eyes but Dk not taking his eyes off his Shua hyung listening to him talk, a small smile on his face reminding him how much he missed his calm voice talking to him, not just answering the interview questions or singing or talking to someone else but him and him only.
“After the drowning mishap, we didn’t talk much, just threw blame around each other. And …. and when you left without a word, I thought you were saying that from your side that I was the one who did you wrong while I was the one who got hurt, mentally and physically.” He said, touching the scratch marks behind his neck. Dk’s hand just unconsciously went over Shua’s hand. Shua took his hands in his, and now meeting Dk’s eyes continued.
“You know whenever things get bad and push comes to shove, I tend to get silent. Not because I don’t want to talk it’s because I don’t want to say anything that in a fit of rage, that I might not mean but end up hurting the person on the receiving end, enough to break what we had.”
Dk just listened, nodding his head in affirmation and his hands around Shua’s neck slowly closing the distance and hugging him again.
“So next time when there is an argument between us.” Shua started his sound muffed as he talked while hugging Dk.
“And I started to act detached and get quiet. Can you just hug me and tell me every thing’s going to be alright and you’ll always be there with me?”
Dk just nodded along and squeezed him tighter, repeating in his head that he'll never let this happen again.
And that’s it, the cold war that had been going on since……… forever came to an end. When they exited the room, both of them were joking around and had a huge smile on their faces, indicating everything is resolved. Seungkwan, the therapist can’t help but ask if things are good now? And Dk replied with, “Hyung and I have talked through the problem. We are all good now. Enjoy the game."
