Before We Begin...

Dear Readers,

Before we begin, I'd like to share a little story about myself before you read this new and improved version of The Assignment.

If you don't want to read this, then you are free to skip ahead to the first chapter... That being said I would love it if you stayed and read just a little bit about how this book came to be.

It started during 2020.

The pandemic had just shut my school down for the year and I found myself filling the days with anything and everything. I've often accounted my love of writing with my amazing teachers who got me through my high school years. But that's not entirely true.

I remember the first time I read a fan fiction story. My first ever fan fiction was one written in 2016 and it became very popular within the fan fiction community. I was curious, so I downloaded Wattpad on my phone and read it. I read the whole thing in one day. I was transfixed and it caused a deep dive into dozens of stories within a week.

It was the first time in my life that I truly fell in love with reading. Now, I've always been an avid reader. Twilight and The Hunger Games will always have a special place in my heart but there was something about these stories, written by people just like me, that made me feel inspired.  I realized for the first time in my life that I wanted to write. So I did.

Originally, The Assignment was a very rough draft of a dream that I had and I had written it in a notebook. I wrote the first three chapters in that notebook before finally deciding to take a chance and write it here, for the world to see.

This is where you come in my lovely reader, because you gave me a chance and decided to read my work, I have found something that I truly love, and while I've grown as both a person and as a writer, I will always be proud to say that you have stuck through it all with me.

I'm a much different person than I was when I published my first chapter. The past 4 years have been some of the best and worst of my life, but I'm here, and I'm grateful for that.

Currently, I'm attending college. By 2027 I will graduate with an English Education degree and I'll be able to show my love of writing to not only you but my future students as well.

So, thank you to my amazing readers who chose to appreciate my words and who took the time to read my work.

I love you. I appreciate you, and I'm very excited to share with you the new and improved version of The Assignment.

Enjoy my lovely readers,

Mia
