Y/n loved the library in the house of lamentation. When they were sad, when they were bored, when they were angry, or even just had free time. It wasn't like they were trying to be a nerd. It was just that the books there were nothing like human world books.

For example, the book about dragons they were reading had a tiny paper dragon come to life each time they turned the page.

Lucifer was not amused by the book. He preferred reading things like bills and rulebooks. Basically, anything mammon would hate to read was at the top of his list.

That's another reason lucifer didn't like the library. Because anytime Y/n went in, it was likely mammon would follow.

Mammon saw himself as their caretaker, not because he wanted to be, but because they had tricked him into forming a pact, and he didn't want to admit defeat to a human.

He dropped a thick stack of books onto the table for them. Y/n shut the book, and the tiny green ringhorn vanished.

"I found as many spellbooks as I could. There's potions, spells, and something about magical cooking. Anyways, ya better thank me."

They reached for the first book. Spells. They tossed it over their shoulder, and grabbed the next one.

"Woah, woah! What're ya doin'?" He'd jumped back.

"I'm a human. I can't do magic. It's either gotta be a potion or whatever magic cooking is."

Mammon rolled his eyes at them and sat down. "Humans suck. Ya can't even do magic? Seriously?!"

They ignored him as the flipped through the book. Nothing. They tossed it over their shoulder.

"Seriously, knock that off before I get in trouble! Ya know how protective Lucifer is over ya."

They glared at him and threw the next book at him. An hour later, they'd gone through almost the entire stack. Three books remained, and they hadn't found what they were looking for.

What were they looking for?

That was lucifer's question as he watched The two from behind a bookshelf. Surely, there must have been something in the other books, and they just hadn't seen it.

When Mammon had begrudgingly gone off to find more books, he walked up behind them and looked at the page they were looking at. It was a spell to make someone more appealing.

He leaned down close, and spoke in their ear.

"What are you doing?"

They jumped out of their seat, their shoulder hitting his chin.

"Nothing! Hahaha!"

He sighed and walked closer, holding their waist with one hand and cupping their cheek with the other.

"Don't lie, darling~ it's not cute~"

He pressed his lips against theirs gently.
