It wasn't long before we got called down to the lieutenants office. Our training officer was also there. Which was weird because he was usually never in on the conversations.
This got us a little on edge. "Please have a seat" the lieutenant said after a few seconds of silence. We sat down in the four chairs that sat aligned in front of his desk.
There was a brief silence before he began. "I know it's a little unexpected, but I heard how good you guys are and I wanted to put you on a mission" he said in a monotone voice.
Niki spoke up after a minute "what kind of mission?" She asked a little skeptical. I could hear the curiosity in her voice.
"It's an undercover mission" that's all the lieutenant said and grabbed a folder. "Is that all the information we get?" I say, unsatisfied with his answer.
He looked a little stunned that I was back talking back to him "you will have this folder of information" his voice took on a more asserting tone.
Niki knew I was stubborn so she nudged my shoulder and I went quiet. The lieutenant looked a little shocked but dropped it.
Niki nudged me again and I knew she wanted me to apologize and I reluctantly did. "Um... Sir" I spoke in a low voice "yes?" He asked as he turned to face me. "I'm sorry, I spoke out of turn" I saw bowing my head.
It took him a moment to reply "it's um it's fine, just don't let it happen again" he said a little softer than normal.
It shocked me a little because I'm not used to hearing him talk like that. Niki turned and smiled at me and I grabbed the folder from the lieutenant.
We all stood up and thanked them then we left to go to our dorms.
