Hello! I've been thinking about what it'd be like for Sasuke to learn he was becoming a dad, so I thought I'd write a cute, fluffy oneshot about it for Valentine's Day! Hope you enjoy it!
Sakura stared at the thin white item in her hands in disbelief. Two lines. There were two little lines on the pregnancy test, not one. She already read through the instruction packet three times just to be sure she wasn't mistaken. She's pregnant. "What's the verdict? I'm dying from the suspense!" Ino's excited yet hushed voice came from outside the bathroom.
It all started at Tenten and Neji's engagement party a few weeks ago. Initially, the women were with the bride-to-be, taking shots at a cheesy male strip club and partying like there was no tomorrow. It was whoever's best guess what the men were doing, probably something similar but with female strippers.
One thing about Sakura? Drinking gets her in the mood.
Somewhere in the early morning hours, not so late that the place would close, she'd reached the point of no return and sent a few spicy texts to her husband. Minutes later, she received a response telling her to meet him at a nearby hotel and...let's just say there was no sleep to be had that night.
Two days ago, Sakura was eating her favorite to-go meal at work for lunch, a southwest salad with spicy dressing, only for a sudden wave of nausea to wash over her. Then, her meal was no longer in her stomach but in the bin. As a doctor-in-training, there was no shortage of people around to help her try to identify the reason. After running tests all day and all of them returning negative, she'd gone home under the impression that the food must've been rotten and upset her stomach.
When she joined Ino for dinner that night, though, it happened again. The pinkette was lucky to have made it to the restroom in time and not cause a scene at the restaurant. While listening to her best friend puke her guts up, Ino teasingly mentioned pregnancy, and it was like all the puzzle pieces fell into place. How Sakura, someone more intelligent than most, especially about the human body, didn't even consider such a thing was unbelievable.
So, there they were, at Ino and Sai's apartment instead of at work like they should be because Sakura was too scared to take the test alone, and there was no way Ino would miss a situation this exciting. They'd both called in sick.
"Forehead, are you alive in there? Don't make me bust down this door."
Sakura snapped out of her stupor, "I-Ino, there are two lines." She'd already washed her hands and rinsed the test, so she shakily unlocked and opened the bathroom door. Her face was pale as she met her best friend's gaze with wide green eyes. "...I'm pregnant," she just barely managed to whisper.
Ino seemed more surprised than Sakura. She jumped between happy and unsure, "Oh my gosh! Congrats! I mean, unless you're not happy, and then I mean: Oh no!" She was waving her hands about excitedly, desperately trying to read her friend's facial expression to gauge what response she should give.
Tears welled up. Sakura's fingers curled around the little piece of plastic.
Ino became silent, her baby blues also getting watery.
"How am I supposed to tell Sasuke?"
"What do you mean?"
Sakura finally lost her composure, bursting into tears. Her voice cracked and wavered as she panicked, "It's not like we've had a chance to talk about it. We just got married three months ago!"
"You're adults. You're married. Married adults fuck. Fucking leads to kids." Ino began to act more calmly, realizing the most significant issue was her friend's anxiety and fear. The Haruno woman would never consider having an abortion, so it was best for her to vent her worries now.
