Original Welcome Home
--------------------------------------------------
It was a peaceful, sunny evening in the world of Welcome Home. Masky is in her backyard on their swing, staring into the sky, thinking and thinking...
"Hey Masky!" A familiar, excited voice shouted from afar; Masky looked to her left, and Julie waved her arms and ran over to Masky. She then sits near Masky on the grassy ground."Hi Julie, What brings you here?" Masky asked, slowly slouching on the swing seat
."I came for two things, one to say "hi." and to see what you're doing for Valentine's Day?" Julie asked, lying on the grassy ground, still exhausted from the long run. Masky looked down, thinking hard,
"Um, I'm not sure, but I have enough time to think of something." Masky smiled, looking back up to the sky. Julie looked confused,
"So, you'll have time by tomorrow?" Jules questioned, sitting up and looking at Masky.
"Tomorrow?" Masked repeated.
"Yes, tomorrow is Valentine's Day, remember?" Julie smiled, a little concerned that Masky might have forgotten. Masky still didn't process what Julie said til-
"TOMORROW?!" Masky stood up fast, nearly tripping on her feet. Julie looked more concerned, chuckling awkwardly.
"You forgot?" Masky looked at Julie, sweating a little,
"Um- Yeah," Masky looks at the ground, thinking hard about what to do or make.
"Masky, you're overthinking again. Why don't you paint something? After all, you are very creative." Julie recommended Masky think and shrugged.
"We'll see." Masky and Julie had a short chit-chat, and Julie reassured Masky that they'd come up with something outstanding, then walked back to the neighborhood, waving goodbye. Masky went inside her Home, into her kitchen and through baking books for special days. Masky kept thinking.
"What do I do..." "What do I give?" "What do I make?" Masky went to her small bookshelf near her kitchen, moving her finger on each book, then grabbing
"The Hundreds of Baked Goods." skimming through each page carefully. "Matcha Cookies?" Masky read more of the page, including Japanese homemade cookies that look like checkerboards. Masky smiled; the neighbors might enjoy these.
"They look like checkerboards." Masky looked at the pictures of this cookie and the ingredients in the book, starting to prepare for baking.
Mixing, Stirring and put them in the oven, waiting for the timer's ding. Masky sits at her dining table, making cards for each neighbor with colorful paper, pencils and pens.
Folding,
Writing,
Drawing,
She colors the cards and slips them into envelopes.
Ding!
"Oh, there goes the timer," Masky whispers as she gets up.
She slowly enters the kitchen, puts on tiny flower-pattern oven mittens, and opens the oven door: warm steam and the smell of finished baked cookies floating out the doors. Masky carefully takes the tray of cookies out, placing them on a metal cooking rack to cool. Masky takes her cooking mitten off, staring at the cookies in awe. As Masky waits, she gets cellophane treat bags and small, assorted-colored bags to finalize her Valentine's gifts for her friends.
