~ A month and a half later ~
Fukuzawa decided that to maintain the secrecy it was best to keep up a side job as a bodyguard, and on this cold spring day, his job is looking rather tedious seeing as his client has been murdered while he was not with her.
-
The wind howls, tossing the papers high into the air and swirling them around, turning the room into a snow globe. The boy who cracked the window, stands in the middle, scanning the floor.
"Ah, here it is." he reaches down, snatching the paper from the floor.
Just as he'd predicted the thicker paper hadn't flown away.
"Nothing was stolen and the assassin didn't kill the president anyway. After all, the secretary is the culprit. Right?" He says casually.
Despite the secretary's protests, the young black-haired boy unveils the truth as easily as if it were written on the secretary's face.
Now knowing the truth, Fukuzawa goes to untie the captured boy, but the young redhead evades him skillfully, the perfect killer. And he does just that, the perfect kill. The bullet finds its mark in the secretary's forehead.
'The evidence is undeniable, he was the killer. His death was not so bad then. And that child . . . I've never seen a shot like that from someone so young.'
When the boy lands from his jump, Fukuzawa acts fast, grabbing him and pulling him into the corridor where they won't be heard. "That was quite the shot . . ."
"Oda. Oda Sakunosuke. Aged 17."
"Well then Oda-san, would you perhaps like a more stable position?"
"As a bodyguard? No. I'm in the business of killing, not saving if you couldn't tell."
"Precisely. My work as a bodyguard is merely a side occupation." Fukuzawa says, handing the young killer one of the rudimentary mafia business cards.
The boy looks at the card then back at Fukuzawa, cautiously. "Let me guess, if I refuse, you'll tell the police I killed that guy."
Fukuzawa shakes his head. "No, This isn't a threat, just an offer. Giving you a chance to make full use of your talents. The secretary murdered a woman under my protection. As far as I'm concerned he hasn't gotten anything he didn't deserve."
"Then, with the state the mafia's in now, no way." Oda starts to leave.
"What if I told you there was to be a change in leadership soon?" Fukuzawa calls after him.
He stops, turning back, "Involving yourself, I assume?"
"Yes."
He looks Fukuzawa up and down as if to analyse him. "Then tell me one thing."
"Anything you'd like to know."
"Do they have curry rice in the mafia?"
Fukuzawa laughs, "The salaries are such that you can have as much curry rice as you'd like."
"Deal."
-
Back in the office, the black-haired sleuth has his ear pressed to the door, he hears everything.
'So, the mafia is handing out jobs, huh? Or at least this guy is. They must be building up to something, something big. He said there's gonna be a change in leadership soon . . . is he planning a coup or something?'
