"I have to get back to Moon."
That one thought was what was keeping Winter from collapsing right there on his flight back from the Ice Kingdom where he would forever be known as dead and knew that he would never be able to return back.
Nevertheless, he lifted his head over his shoulders to take a glance at his former home and his heart sank. He thought of what would have happened if he didn't care about what his parents thought and just stepped down from the first circle. Even worse, he thought of would have happened if he had just killed Hailstorm. He pondered on this for a minute but quickly tried to shake off the thought, but he couldn't help but wonder about it. He could have been home. Thoughts flooded him with what his life could have been.
Finally, he forced those thoughts out of his mind and tore his eyes away from the now diminishing Ice Castle behind him and he forced his wings to beat faster. There was only one day left to return to Moon and he would not be late, His home was wherever Moon, Qibli and even Kinkajou and Turtle were. They were his family now.
"Slow down! Two thousand years of chains do mess with your flying, you know. Can we please take a break?"
Winter snapped his head towards Foeslayer. He hadn't even realized how hard he was beating his wings until he felt a sharp pain in his left wing.
"Fine, but only for an hour."
They flew for around thirty minutes until they finally found a place to land on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Sand. Moon was so close. He was disgusted with himself for resting when she was so near.
