When my best friend called to meet up at our favorite place of all time, Shot of Expresso, coffee house, I never would of imagined that it would be an emergency code for "help, I need boy advice."

Then again, Kris' definition of a real emergency could vaguely be mistaken as an ordinary and non existent disaster or mental crisis but that was who my best friend was and we knew well of it.

Leslie was the first one to be there since I was still in the middle of getting settled in with my Dad and getting registered for school. Hopefully I'd start next week along with Kris and Les.

I couldn't clearly process what she was saying at first.

Studying does that to you.

And lack of sleep, unfortunately.

So here we were, both Leslie and me, trying to figure out why Kris has called us desperately to meet up with her. When she told me at first, I didn't believe it, either that or I was thinking she was playing around, messing with our heads just for the sake of fun until she was actually serious.

She fell for her boyfriend.

Well, not her actual boyfriend but her friend who is a boy.

Leslie and I had always teased her about him and would call him her boyfriend but Kris would deny it and say they were nothing but close.

They've been good friends since Freshmen year until this day and I still haven't met him. Leslie either so that meant that there was nothing to worry about and he was just some mysterious guy that we had absolutely no idea about.

"Why don't you try talking to him about it?" Leslie suggests, making Kris' eyes wide open like a pair of saucers.

"Are you insane? What if I ruin our friendship?"

"I think you should be honest, maybe he will understand if you talk things out with him. Don't expect too much and if he doesn't reciprocate your feelings then he's not the rightful one for you." I say a little too bluntly and I know Kris won't appreciate my advice. I always went on and said things how they truly were, no sugar coating and I knew it wouldn't be something she would appreciate hearing.

Kris groans, "That's not what I wanted to hear."

See, I told you.

I release a deep breath, "It's better to be honest and expect the truth than to fantasize about something delusional that will never happen."

"Ouch, Maggie. Why are you always so straight forward?"

I can't help but chuckle and Leslie joins me. "It's best to start something by communicating with the person then to go on living life and pretending like there's nothing going on while you're silently suffering and crying yourself to sleep."

Leslie erupts with laughter, making Kris scoff. "You are the worst at giving advice."

I shake my head, "No, I'm not. I'm just realistic and you my friend only want me to tell you want you want to hear."

Kris sighs heavily, obviously annoyed with me already and it's only been three minutes since we've been gathered here.

"I don't know what to do."

Leslie pitches in, placing her hand on my arm so I won't think twice about talking, again.

"I think that if you feel really strongly about him, you should tell him just like Maggie here said and who knows there's a high chance he might feel the same, you two have been friends for a while and he clearly seems attached to you."

Kris releases the breath she had been holding onto, "Okay. That's a little better."

"That's basically what I said," I whine, tossing my hands up in drastically and rather dramatically too. I had to stop watching soap operas but Mom got me obsessed.
