Gregory’s POV

It has been a week after my wife’s funeral and I still couldn’t get over her death. My life and my love taken away with just a finger snap. I looked out of my office window just trying to get my thoughts together as everything in this world just kept moving forward without turning back.

“Should I just keep moving on with my life or should I just keep on mourning the death of my wife?” I said to myself. Then the door behind me opened and in came Richard, my best friend and colleague. In his hands were document papers. I could tell because that’s what he always carries when he goes into my office. He slams the documents unto my table as I turned my chair around to see his face like an erupting volcano.

He wasn’t like this before. Richard was more of the office player and clown but this has got to be important with the way Richard was acting. It kind of ruined his persona a little.

“Bloody Hell! Bloody Hell! Bloody Hell Greg! Look at these documents!” He said as he showed me the documents. I took a closer look and my eye sockets began to burst. My heart sank as I read the papers before me.

“Oh my…oh my,” was all I could say. “H-how? How did this happen Richard?

 Richard’s POV

I was busy flirting with the receptionist at the front desk of Smith Inc. when Frank my assistant came with a long brown envelope. His face looked kind of distressed and tired.

“Sir ….y-you….huh…. have got to read this.” He said trembling. He usually does this if the documents I’ll be reading are going to make me explode into fits of rage. “Give me that,” I said as I grabbed the brown envelope from him. I gave Emily a wink telling her “I’ll get back to you once I’m done with this.”

I opened the brown envelope to see a few documents and a letter. My eyes widened when I read it and without hesitation I ran toward the elevator. Bumping into a lot of employees I pressed the 20th floor and waited for the doors to open.

I ran out once the doors opened and briskly walked towards an office at the end of the hall, the office of the CEO of Smith Inc., the office of Mr. Gregory Smith. “Bloody Hell! Bloody Hell! Bloody Hell Greg! Look at these documents!” was all I could say. I couldn’t think straight after reading that god damn letter.

Gregory let his head sink into his hands as he spoke, “Oh my…oh my….H-how? How did this happen Richard?” I saw him reading the letter and he threw it away. “Listen Greg, we need to act fast now. Our investors declined our offer because that bloody Blizzard Inc. gave them a better offer. We’ll just look for better investors that’s all and give them an offer that Blizzard Inc. couldn’t even top. We need to act now or we will lose a lot of money from this bullshit.”

Gregory’s POV

My mind went into a mental block after reading the letter. I couldn’t make out the words Richard was saying but I know that he was shouting. Thank God my windows are sound proof. I had them installed a few years back when I was the same as Richard, a player, but ever since I met Effie I immediately stopped because I knew she was the one.

God, thinking about Effie just breaks my heart. I had those investors coming for a year. I gained all my confidence at taking risks on investments and dealerships thanks to Effie. But ever since she died, I lost all of it and sometimes I couldn’t think straight. Now I lost what could have been the biggest deal for Smith Inc. because of me.

Then an idea came to me.  I shot out from my seat, grabbed my coat and headed straight towards the door. “Richard if it’s not too late we can still get those Americans back.”
