Do I Wanna Know

I LOOK OUT the window to see celestial shores come into view.

every summer my family and i go to the xander's beach house. it's my favorite part of the year, because not only is the beach right there but i have my best friend mia there.

my mom and mariana have been best friends ever since they were young, and i'm guessing they want to keep the tradition going with their kids.

mariana has two kids, mia and julian. mia is my best friend, but julian is not so much. mia and i have a set of rules in our friendship so it never breaks. the first one being that i don't date julian, but i don't really mind the rule because i don't like julian at all.

jude starts to sing loudly from the backseat, which snaps me out of my thoughts. i turn to face him from the front seat annoyed, "for the love of god jude, shut up," i tell him. 

"val let the poor boy sing," mom looks at me laughing before averting her eyes back on the road.

"yeah val, let me sing," he says sarcastically. 

i turn once more to jude so i can hit him in the head. "valentina don't hit your brother," my mom scolds. 

jude continues to sing obnoxiously for 15 minutes until mom parks in the driveway of the beach house. i quickly jump out of the car excited, forgetting to fix my hair which is a guaranteed mess from sleeping for most of the drive here.

i run up to the front of the door and knock two times slowly following up with two quick ones. mia and i had made up the knock together when we were younger. i hear shuffling behind the door before mia opens it with a grin. 

"val!" she yells before engulfing me in a hug. my mom and jude have now made it up to the door and are hugging the others. 

"i've missed you so much," i tell mia smiling to which she repeats the same to me. 

i notice julian making his way over to me after he greeted my mom and jude which now mia has gone to greet . 

i notice him look me up and down before averting his eyes to my hair. "your hair is a little messy by the way," he states pointing to it. 

"yours isn't any better," i narrow my eyes at him. he rolls his eyes and turns around heading for the door to go back inside before he is called by mariana to help bring the bags inside. 

i go to then greet mariana. she has a bright smile on her face as she hugs me before pulling away. "you get prettier every year," she grins which puts a shy smile to my face.  

"thank you mariana," i respond. mariana has always complimented me and done things for me. she is like a second mom to me, i love her more than anything. 

i make my way up to my room that is saved for me for the summer. my room has a beach theme to it considering how much i love the ocean. i also have a guitar and surf board by my mirror which is slightly covered with pictures from the past summers. my room consists music posters as well, most of them being of weeknd given that he is my favorite artist. 

i start to hang up my clothes when mia comes in. "can we go to the beach, please," she pleads sitting down on her bed. 

"i have to organize my things," i take a shirt from my suitcase and hang it up. 

mia doesn't care though, she just rolls her eyes and stands up. "just do it after, you have all the time in the world to get everything organized." 

"fine," i cave in which causes a smile to spread on mia's face. "okay good," she walks out the room afterwards leaving me to change. i grab a light blue flower bikini from my suitcase to change into and a flower claw clip. 

once i have made my way downstairs i notice that jude and julian are sitting on the couch playing video games. "mia and i are heading to the beach!" i call out incase anybody wonders where we are. 

as i slip on my sandles, i notice julian look at me with a face i can't decipher. he quickly changes it though once i look at him which makes me wonder if i ever even saw it. 

as i make my way to mia who's waiting in the drive way, i can't help but think of the face julian made before i left.
