Y/n was a normal guy, a normal guy with nothing better to do than to just sit inside and do nothing. He was a loner with no one to go back to since his parents were no proud of him and kicked him out of the house. It was a miracle that he's still alive, barely, and he has an apartment, which was shitty and not cleaned. Y/n tried his best to at least clean the place, but there was something else to screw it all up, terrible neighbors, terrible construction, everything was bad about this place... but it was cheap. The only thing he had to keep him calm was a brown leather covered journal, something to write down his feelings and thoughts. Therapy was an expensive thing, he just read online from his old phone, that was close to being broken, that writing in something like a journal or notebook would help him calm down.

As he wrote in his journal he could her the other tenants arguing with no remorse about something stupid. Y/n just continued to ignore them and write down his thoughts before closing it and walking to his room before going for a walk, another thing that calmed him down.

Y/n: "I would kill for a proper meal for once."

Y/n checks his drawers, his closet, and everywhere else for some money, resulting in only having $12.34.

Y/n: "Great, barely enough to purchase a sandwich in the convenient store... again. Damn it inflation and company greed, fucking up the pricing for your greedy asses."

He just sighs and walks out of his apartment and walk towards the convenient store just for a sandwich, because no food and no job. Y/n couldn't even afford school, having to drop out because of the money issues and not learning anything good from there. There was a lot of people today, walking on the sidewalk, driving in the roads, and some just standing behind counters  hoping for their paycheck next Tuesday. He makes it to the convenient store and enters as Y/n browses around before making it to the sandwich isle and taking whatever, the fuck is there to be picky with? When you're poor you don't give two fucks about what you eat. Anyway, Y/n walks over to the counter and places the package with the sandwich for the cashier to scan.

Cashier: "Same thing? It's been what? The third time this month with buying only a sandwich?"

Y/n: "Fuck off, shit's been shit."

The cashier scanned the item and looked at Y/n.

Cashier: "That would be $10.46."

Y/n: "Fuck, the price just keeps going up."

He pays for his sandwich and takes it.

Cashier: "Have a nice day."

Y/n: "Yeah, and have fun with the fucking paycheck next Tuesday."

Y/n walks out the doors and it closes behind him with the cashier folding his arms and lying his head down on them.

Cashier: "Every time."

Y/n continues his walk down the sidewalk eating the "cheap" sandwich and looks around, looking for something to at least look interesting. Nothing really popped out, just more buildings, stores, and people waiting for their god damn paycheck. But eventually he does make it to the spot Y/n loves so much, an old and abandoned library out of town that's quiet and away from everyone and everything. He walks in and walks post the shelves and books on the floor as he makes it to a rolling ladder on a shelve and runs and jumps onto it as rolls it across the shelves and stops at the end of it. With the sandwich in his mouth as he climbs up and reaches the top shelf and reaching up to the second floor rail, the stairs were blocked off and unaccusable for use. He lands on the ground before walking over to a hammock that was set up for him, he jumps on it and relaxes as he takes the journal out and writes in it.

Y/n: "Another day, another session for the journal."

Y/n wastes all his time in the abandoned library because of the peace and quiet, with all the books he could read without having to pay, and the dim light inside making it more comfortable and homely. It was the place when shit goes down hill and has to move out of the apartment... Which was today, he hadn't paid rent for about a week and now has half his stuff inside. The rest of it was still at the apartment needing to be moved. The truth was, he was a nice guy, just a little pissed about the outcome that had happened upon him from being kicked out and having no money to support himself. He still made sure to be nice, but it was getting harder and harder each day as he loses money from buying food and essentials to survive out in town.

As he wrote down in the journal, he glances at a glint of something on the first floor. He sits up and gets off the hammock finishing off the sandwich, and looking over the rail to the table with a glint on it form the sunlight. He climbs back over the rail and back down the rolling ladder before making his way to the item that as on the table. Y/n looks at it and picks it up by the chain that it was hanging on, it was a charm.

It was a weird charm, nothing he has seen before, but it was a nice charm. Maybe something valuable as well.

Y/n: "Well, maybe I can get something useful out of you."

Y/n was at a pawn shop.

Y/n: "The fuck you mean priceless?!"

Pawn Owner: "Sorry, but this here charm is nothing but scrap."

Y/n: "You have to be kidding me, the thing has to have something of value in it!"

Pawn Owner: "The only thing worth in it is the gem in the middle, a $1.50, that's all I can give."

Y/n: "You know what? Keep your money, I'll keep this what you call a "priceless charm"."

Y/n takes the charm and walks out, the charm being priceless, he was a little mad about it but at least he has a charm to keep and show off. He looks at it as he walked back to the apartment to get the rest of his stuff out, he puts it on and... nothing. What else did you expect, some magical transformation? Maybe a power or two? Yeah no, it's just a normal charm around his neck. Y/n reaches the apartment and grabs a box before packing the only things he had before closing it up and bringing it outside where the landlord was.

Landlord: "Got the money?"

Y/n: "No, but I got your keys. I'm leaving like you asked."

Y/n give them the keys before leaving with the box and towards the outskirts of town, walking towards the library. The night was slowly rising and he eventually makes it to the doors, opening them and walking over to the ladder. He climbs up it with a box in one arm and the other holding onto the ladder itself to go up, he reaches the top and throws it on the floor. He yawns and walks over to the hammock and lay down on it, pulling the only blanket he could get over his body. He closes his eyes and dreams of the life he wished he had. The charm still on him as it faintly glows through the blanket, and a soft voice speaking quietly.

"Don't worry, you'll be just perfect."
