Clang! Bang!

'How long have we been fighting?'

Whoosh! Smash!

The sword that had adorned his hand had long since disappeared from his hand. He had been swinging his claws around instead, but his arms had begun to feel numb from exhaustion.

"Hah... Fuu..."

His lungs were on fire, and his legs felt like he had just run a marathon. He wanted to stop and take a breather, but he knew if he took a break, he wouldn't be able to move his body again. He's simply moving his body through sheer will.

"RRRAAAAHHHH!!"

A humanoid figure launched its' fist towards Vox from his left side, but he was too distracted by the spikes in front of him to notice it.

Cling!

A chain materialized from thin air and caught the fist before it could strike Vox.

Bam!

Then, a kick blew the humanoid figure away from Vox, melting it back into a pool of ink.

"Thanks..."

Vox could barely voice out his gratitude to Shu and Luca in between his labored breaths. He could no longer remember how long he'd been fighting. Has it been hours?

"How long has it been...?" Luca asked the question that had been running through Vox's mind.

"Ten minutes," Shu answered curtly. His mind was too preoccupied with defending everyone and keeping the mind transfer going to say anything else.

"Damn it," cursed Vox.

It was way shorter than he thought it'd been. Luca had been running on fumes, while Shu looked half out of his mind from exhaustion and mental fatigue.

'At this rate, we wouldn't last for even a minute.'

His eyes glanced over to Mysta, still lying unconscious on the floor. The man that he'd doubted before for a moment was now struggling by himself to save their friend. Who knows what kind of dangers he's facing in the mind of that curse bastard?

Vox gritted his teeth and steeled his resolve once more. He swung his claws against the spikes that attempted to harm Mysta.

Clang!

'Don't think about anything else.'

Bang!

'Just focus on protecting him, even if it's just for a second longer.'

Pow!

'We're all going back home, no matter what.'

Swing!

'Then we'll stream together and talk about nonsense like usual.'

Swish!

'Maybe we'll have a drink after this and laugh about this ridiculous adventure of ours.'

"-ox! Vox, stop! Look!"

"...Huh? What..."

Shu's voice snapped Vox out of his trance. He finally realized that he'd been swinging at nothing for a while. He looked around in confusion before turning in the direction that Shu was pointing at.

"Ah..."

The spikes hovered around them menacingly, ready to rain down on them all at once. Vox ran the scenario multiple times in his head, but he couldn't find a way to block it.
