1 Practice

Today was  practice. I was excited and scared because this was my first year in the States. I had been playing for Italy for several years but missed my family and friends.  I was able to get my long time friend Dr. Maura Rizzoli a job as the team doctor. The owners agreed. If not I would stay in Italy and continued to miss my loved ones.  Ny wife, Judge Lisa Marcos left it up to me to decide on playing in the States or not.
It helped that Maura was good as a doctor. Her wife, Rony Cabrera was able to get a job at Sacramento State University as the dean of the Business Department. My wife was able to pass to transfer here being a judge. For the past year prior to us moving to Italy, she would come and be a visiting job. When Mimi Rodgers asked her to become a full a time job, she agreed after we spoke.  We couldn't believe we moved to Sacramento and how much our lives changed.

The practice was starting after we stretched.  Maura had us do some yoga. In the beginning, some of the women was against it. Initially,   I was against it. She convinced the owners of the benefit of yoga.

Alright everyone get in your position and let's start this practice.  Jane your captain.

I watched Jane run down the court with her fellow teammates setting up for a full court press once the other teammates came close to half court.
I knew she was surprised that the coach wanted her to be the team captain since was hee first practice with the Monarchs. I  was able to read her body movements to know she was caught off guard by the coaches announcement.
She knew how to rally her teammates and be a leader. She was known for this in Italy. The practice finally ended. She looked at me and smiled as I handed her a bottle of gatorade to drink. 

Hey Maura Lisa wants you and Rony to come over for dinner tonight.  If you two are busy that is. She text my wife and I while you running up and down the court.  I told her we would bring the wine and the dessert.  Please get a chocolate cake or red velvet cake.  Rony made a green velvet cake. I never had a green one. Jane it was white until she had added green food coloring in the batter and mixed it.  You  stink so go take a shower.  I will be there momentarily.  I need to recheck on the permission who got hurt.  Jane take an ice bath first. Yes doc.

I left to go take a ice bath. These always made me feel better even though I would be cold until I took a hot shower. I am getting out of the metal tub with ice. Maura is helping my teammate walk. I hear Maura tell the coaches and my teammates that it looks like she broke her ankle so she would need to be driven to the hospital to get it x-rayed and it attended too. My teammate wasn't happy.  Another teammate went with,since she was  dressed and her bag with her. She would go with her as well as one of the physical therapist.

Why aren't you don't by done? I just finished my ice treatment.  I will have to wait for you since I am your ride. 

Jane left to take a regular shower. All of her vehicles still were not here. Only Lisa's one car was and Lisa had dropped her off because she  needed her own car. This weekend all of their vehicles would be here. They already had all of their license plates, car insurances and registrations paid for each one. In the meantime, I went to my office to complete my paper work in the injured player so I could fax it to the hospital.   I hear someone scream and exit my office and go to the area where everyone who was still in the locker room went.

One of the players wasn't breathing.  Jane and another teammate was performing CPR on her while someone was calling for an ambulance.
