"Good night." Loren said, as she climbed out of the car.
Mark huffed. "Yeh whatever." He stared straight ahead.
She closed the door and he sped off.
"I'm cursed." She sighed heavily.
It was about nine o'clock and it seemed too early to be back home, especially after what was supposed to be a sexy evening until she chickened out after second base. She didn't know why she did this. Why every time sex came up she felt anxious and withdrew. She pulled her keys from her bag and opened the front door.
"Hey, daddy." She greeted meekly.
He looked up from his book. "You're home early, honey. I thought you'd be out with Mark all night."
She just shook her head.
He made a face. "Oh?" He closed his book with a finger between the pages to save his spot. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"I'm just gonna get ready for bed." She said with a faint smile.
"Alright." He understood. "I'm always here if you need me."
And he was. He was the best stepdad anyone could ask for. But she didn't want to involve him with every aspect of her life, especially when it came to sex. Some things are just private.
