Sophie's POV
"Sophie, please don't be mad" Brett looks me dead in the eye and I knew something was coming as I change my almost 2 year old daughter Sage's diaper.
"What did you do Brett?" I ask in a moderate voice. He had a guilty look on his face
"You are just so lonely Soph, I did what was best for you" I roll my eyes and he plays with his thumbs "you know that guy I dated for about 2 months until he cheated on with that french guy?" He asks and I nod
"Yes I remember" I remember it like it was yesterday. It was Brett's first real heart break and it hurt me seeing him so sad. I swore I'd kill him if I ever saw him again. Brett is like my little brother, even though I dated him from like a week when we were high school before he came out as gay and dated my half brother Luke who isn't even gay. Luke said he did it for experience but I think he did it to get back at me for stealing his ex girlfriend Cori and made her my best friend. Luke has never dated a boy since and he only dated Brett for 3 weeks before breaking up with him. Brett wasn't hurt though. He moved on a whole lot quicker than Luke. Brett was there for me when my ex husband John divorced me and left me alone to take care of 4 month old Sage. Brett is like her funcle who just spoils her and does whatever she wants. We're glad to have Brett in our lives.
"So apparently he had an ex who just got out of a crazy divorce. He is looking for someone who can relate to him as he is a single dad" Brett explains and I know where he going with this "you are a perfect match for him" he grins and I take Sage off the changing table and put her on the floor
"No, I'm not dating your ex's ex" I go to the living room and he follows me
"He only dated him in high school and I kept in touch with him. His name is Shane and he has 3 kids... A boy and 2 girls" he thinks real hard to remember the genders and I sigh
"Brett..." I start but he stops me
"He's not gay anymore, believe me, I tried getting with him just after his divorce but he clearly was only into women. He's a nice guy and he is great with kids" he grabs my hand, showing he is serious "please Soph, I just want what's best for you and Sage" he begs and I roll my eyes and smile
