Chapter 10: Outsiders Wanderlust
Lily Pod:
"Yay! Lily-Chan is coming to play!" Fai squealed excitedly, automatically hugging Yuui, who smiled in my direction, making me blush slightly.
Alright, Kurogane began gruffly, "Sakura and Syaoran stayed home because they're little and I guess they had to nap or something so it's just us, whatcha want to do?"
I knew the question was aimed towards me, but in truth I had never really played with other kids, even when I was with my parents so I didn't know.
"Ummmmm, to be honest, I never really played with other kids, so I don't really know, what do you guys normally do?" I asked nervously.
"I'm so happy you asked! When Yuui and I lived at the old orphanage we used to draw pictures! Ooh, and then, I would run around while big kids tried to hit me!" Fai's smile was as radiant as ever, even though the situation he had described was tragically comical.
"Err, not to sound rude, but why didn't you just NOT bother the big kids?" I asked, remembering I had learned that lesson as soon as I got there. As long as you stay quiet and don't make a scene, nobody would bother you, or notice you at all.
"Fai has always been an attention grabber, we were 6 at the time so I suppose he thought it was a game. I never participated, but Fai seemed to think it was a dangerous game of tag, those boys never caught him once." Yuui smiled softly, and I could see he really loved his brother.
"Bah! Fast legs for a runaway mouth if you ask me." Kurogane scoffed.
I laughed, it was obvious all three of them had been friends for a while, and not to sound selfish, but I was glad I wasn't the only one who had been stuck in an orphanage.
"You laugh at my pain?! Lily-Chan, Kuro-pipi how could you?!" Fai fake-cried on Yuui's shoulder, and Yuui patted his shoulder while shaking his head at his silliness.
"You think that's anything do you? When I was 6, I used to climb up the top of our 20 foot cherry tree, because my mom was always losing her stuff to the wind, and then I would jump out!" Kurogane shouted into the sky.
My eyes were wide as I asked "How did you land without getting hurt?"
"My father was always at the bottom ready to catch me! Course, he was never too happy, cause it was dangerous, but I sure never thought so!" Kurogane smiled, just slightly as he said it, proving that he enjoyed smiling just like anyone else.
"So, what kind of games do you guys do now?" I asked, a little skeptically, it seemed that these three had a knack for getting themselves into trouble, and Yuui got dragged along, though I suspected he softened the blow of their more dangerous stunts.
"We don't play, we search for adventure!" Kurogane grinned mischievously.
"Yup! Don't you know? Kuro-pipi is our captain, and we are his loyal followers, care to join us?" Fai laughed excitedly.
"It really is very fun, Lily-san, you don't need to worry, and if anything happens, we'll protect you, I promise." Yuui finished, and I think he realized my fear of disappointing anyone, or somebody getting hurt, but I didn't want to weigh them down. But they were all smiling at me, and I knew that this was an offer of companionship, not idiocy.
"Yeah, I'd like that." I smiled, ready to explore, so we started off.
"Let's go to the park." Yuui suggested to Kurogane.
