I was walking down the hallway with a bundle of tape in my hands that my aunt asked me to bring. I've been starving since the morning, skipped my breakfast because of the Haldi ki rasm that was held today. I just want to have lunch now, but my aunt wants me to help her in wrapping all the gifts, getting her the small things she needs like Tape, pens, etc. and getting her some samosas after every hour. This is my 13th time walking down this hallway.
I sighed and rolled my eyes as I turned left to take the stairs, just then I bumped into a guy. The plate of gulal he was carrying with his hands flew above us as I felt myself falling. 'Oh god, this is why I hate boys.' I landed on the floor, and it took me a loud thud of the plate falling to realize that all the pink gulal fell on my pastel yellow lehenga that my cousin gifted me on Gem's first month birthday. 'Another reason to hate men.' I sighed and staring at my clothes before I tried to get up.
"Are you okay?" I was dusting off the gulal from my head and clothes when I heard a man's deep, concerned voice. I stopped and looked up to see the him standing in front of me.
"No." I replied with an annoyed tone. Anyone close to me would be able to tell how mad I am just by hearing my voice.
"I didn't do it on purpose, I promise." His voice was soft, but I felt even angrier at him now. "You should've watched out. My eyes were on the plate because I was told not to drop it..."
"And? you dropped it anyway. Oh, God... I will have to wash it now. On top of that I have to take a shower, I can't attend the event like this." I held my head in my hands out of frustration, and to calm myself. He stared at my lehenga for a moment, and I heard him speak again.
"I'm really sorry about your lehenga but you can go take a shower quickly, the event hasn't started yet."
"I'm not staying in this hotel; my house is like way far away from here and I don't want to walk all the way to home like this." My voice still sounded so annoyed. He thought about my response for a moment and spoke again.
"Well, I am staying here. So, if you're okay with it you can take a fresh shower in my room. I wouldn't mind after all, I'm the reason your lehenga got ruined in the first place." He offered with a bright smile. I thought about his offer for a moment, 'should I?' And after a short minute I sighed and nodded my head.
"Fine, lead the way." My temper was now slowing down. He was smiling brightly and nodded his head as well. He then began to lead me upstairs; I was following him without saying a word. When we arrived at the 3rd floor, I felt the atmosphere changing. The hallway was too quiet since all the guests were on 2nd floor for the event.
Once we arrived at his room, he opened the door and gestured me to enter first. I slowly walked inside and looked around. It was just like a normal hotel room and some luggage were set near the king-sized bed, which I assumed belonged to him since it's his room.
"You can shower here. Take as much time as you need." He pointed to the bathroom door, my eyes followed his gaze, looking at the door as I nodded. "You need anything else before I leave?"
"Yes, um... Do you know who Palakh is?" I looked down at my clothes again, waiting for an answer.
"No. Am I supposed to know her?"
"Well, do you know Ajay?" I sighed.
"Ajay? You mean the bride's brother? Yes, I know him."
"Okay, then go to Ajay and ask him to take you to Palakh. When you find her, tell her that Uditi is in trouble, and she needs a Saree or a Kurta urgently. Make sure it's a new one so I can attend the event wearing that." I stood at the entrance of the bathroom as I watched him process everything I said just now. After a moment he spoke again.
