"Okay kids, who's ready for reading time!!" Dazai announced with a sweet smile, the children jumped around and started to run towards him.

Dazai, thinking he'd finally become liked among the youngsters, held his arms out for one big group hug.

He was mistaken though. They had actually just seen Ms. Yosano and were running through him, the little ones stomping on and past him to get to the much more famous caretaker at the preschool.

"Ms. Yosano, Ms. Yosano! Read a book for us!" Little Atsushi tugged at her apron. The group was made of chaotic kiddos: Atsushi, Akutagawa, Chuuya, Ranpo, Kyoka and a few others.

"Now, now kids, why don't you all go and play? I have to prepare your arts and crafts at your desks. Maybe some other time?" Yosano carried a box full of construction paper, markers and other items for the kids to play with later.

The group erupted into oo's and aa's. They all wanted to play with Ms. Yosano, she was the nicest teacher ever!

"It's okay kids, I'll play with you guys!" Dazai sat up with a closed-eyed smile, dirty little foot imprints all over him from the previous stampede.

The children all proceeded to run away, Kyoka tearing up a bit from the scary man.

"Ugh....." Dazai sighed in defeat, Yosano snickering at him from the door.

"Hey, Akutagawa right? Wanna play with me?" Kenji shoves brightly colored building blocks in the others face with the brightest smile.

"No."

"Oh, okay then, maybe some other time....?"

"No."

"What if I invited Atsushi over here? Would you play with us then?" Kenji teased.

"....What are we going to play."

Kenji groaned, he was too obvious.

It was time to play outside! All the little ones gathered in a line, ready with toys and chalk in their tiny hands.

"Alright kids, remember to play nice and talk to me or Ms. Yosano if you all need anything!" Dazai kept a cheery smile.

The kids payed no mind to their other teacher, mumbling dismissive 'okays' and scurrying outside with everyone laughing and screaming.

"Hey, hey, Ranpo! Do you wanna play hopscotch with me?" Atsushi asked, offering the other a handful of chalk to draw on the concrete

"Sure, but only if you give me that lollipop in your pocket, haha!" Ranpo pointed at little Atsushi, they both agreed, and they laughed and drew a hopscotch pattern.

"Perfect!" Ranpo put his hands on his hips, proud of all his hard work. Atsushi stared at his cool classmate, showering him with praises and promising him more candy later.

"Okay, you can go first since you made it!" Atsushi smiled, Ranpo happily (and very smoothly) did the skips on the square patterns with ease.

Atsushi excitedly waved his hands around, "Awesommee! Me next, me next!" The were-cub jumped and skipped all over the squares, and was doing great up until right towards the end, when he caught the toe of his shoe and fell straight down.
