I'm sorry yall are a Demeter kid again 🫣
SO THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A VALENTINES DAY ONE FOR RamandeepKaur640, I am so sorry, I know that it's late, but I hope you still enjoy.

I gazed intently across the dining pavilion at the Demeter table. My young companion, Meg was laughing at some joke being told. So much food was falling out of her mouth that everyone around her seemed to be put off by her.

Next to her was her older sister. I never talked to her before, but she had every boy gawking over her. Her hair, a beautiful (h/c) color, had a natural shine, and her (e/c) eyes that shone like stars.
No, I don't like her, it's just simple facts I'm pointing out. And with Valentine's Day today, she was bound to have a date.

She happened to glance up at me while I staring (Not directly at her but in her general direction). I averted my gaze, feeling a blush creeping up my face.
I tried to just focus on what my kids around me were saying, but for a girl I didn't like, (y/n) had some kind of trance on me.

I heard a laugh come from beside me. I raised my gaze to see Will, one of my sons, looking at me.
"Are you paying attention?" He asked.
"No, he's looking at that Demeter girl." My other son, Austin, said chucking.
I glared to the two, both were lucky I wasn't a god, or I'd blow them to smithereens.

"I wasn't looking at (y/n)," I stated. "I was simply just checking on my friend, Meg."
Laughter erupted around the table. I glanced at my children, confused. What was funny?
"(Y/n)? We were talking about Miranda,"Austin said.
"She is pretty cute too, I guess," Will stated. "You sound ask her to be your valentine."

I touched the mark on my face. The one I got when I became mortal, a dumb little soulmate game. My mark seemed to be someone's right hand squishing my face. I shook my head, feeling a surge of frustration. I don't like her.

"What ever you say." Laugher erupted around me again. I stood up embarrassed, and marched out of the pavilion. They have no respect for their father.

I made my way to my first activity for the day, Archery, led by (y/n) unfortunately. I was there early so I sat on a nearby bench, seeking some time alone. I couldn't keep my head straight. between being mesmerized by a girl, and my trials, I simply couldn't keep up with myself.

If I did date someone (no one specifically), and I finished my trials, I would have to leave her behind.
The weight of responsibility's tugged on me. The thought of forming relationships, only to have them torn away from me, was a heavy burden on my heart.

Behind me I could hear someone messing with the rack of bows. I didn't dare turn around, looking someone in the eyes might cause me to burst into a puddle of tears.

"Are you here for extra practice?" (Y/n)s voice rang from behind me. I shrugged my shoulders in response.
"I just needed some space." I say.

"Reasonable." I hear a small chuckle. She drew her bow string back and fired an arrow, hitting the bullseye.
She reached for another arrow and I could see the dark mark on the palm of her hand, the spot where she would to touch her soulmate for the first time. You  could tell she hadn't found her soulmate yet because your mark's supposed to disappear after touching.

"Do you have special plans for Valentine's Day?" She questioned me not taking her eyes off the targets.
"No," I laughed uncomfortably. "What about you?"
"Same," she fired another arrow. "I probably won't date until I find my soulmate. It'll save me some trouble."
I nodded in agreement, but I wished that was my problem, simply no one liked me.

"I guess I do like someone," she continued. "I'm afraid to ask him out though."
I looked up amazed. (Y/n), the bravest person at camp, was to nervous to asking someone out? There had to be bigger problems than that to worry about. I didn't question her though.

"Really? Who, may I ask?"
"Mmmh, it's kinda private."
I nodded understandably.
"He's cute, but he's kinda cocky though." She said with a giggle.
"That could be any of the boys here (Y/n)" I say

"True, but my boy is special," she placed her bow on the rack and sat next to me. "More powerful than anyone else here, he just doesn't know how to accept that things take practice."

I laughed. "Sounds like me." All she did was hum in return. It kind of dawned on me that she may be actually taking about me.
"Do you like anyone?" She asked.

"I think so," I reply and sighed. "She's so beautiful, and strong." I glance towards the ground. "She's kind of reminded me that I'm not worthless, I just need a little work."

She smiles at me and my heart flutters. My stomach felt like it was carrying the karate kid. (It's not though I promise)
"I think you should ask the guy you like out." I say to (Y/n). I hear her laugh and my stomach flips again.

"Should I?" She hums in amusement. "Do you know who it is?" She asked, her gaze locking on me. "I have a vague idea." I try to say back flirtatiously. (I failed.)

Our eyes met and one thought flew into our minds at the same time. She grabbed my face, squishing my cheeks with her right hand. She inched forward until her lips barely grazed my own.
"Will you be my valentine Lester?"
My heard pounded in my ears, and  my voice was caught in my throat. I just nodded my head gently before she pushed her lips onto mine. I pushed forward into the kiss deepening it.

After a moment, one which felt like a lifetime, we pulled apart. Still close enough, our breath heated each other's faces. (Y/n) pulled away fully first, she glanced at her hand. Her mark was gone. She rubbed to now bare spot, I couldn't see my face, so I couldn't tell, but the way (Y/n) looked at me I assumed my was gone too.

At that moment my kids and the Demeter kids started filing into the area. (Y/n) stood abruptly like nothing happened, and started preparing for the lesson.
My son, Will, came to me astonished. "Dad your face..." I blushed hard and looked away. "You stud!" He laughed.
Meg unfortunately made her way over. "That mark better not have come off because you were with my sister."

I sat, burning with embarrassment. (Y/n) was gathering bows and passing them out, but she glanced at me and winked.
Oh gods, how could I leave this.
