I know that we don't know the exact reason why Virat is missing the entire series and it's his choice to keep it private and the only thing we know is what ABd said and then contradicted it himself.
So I'll just be using that as a reason. I respect Virat's privacy and I hope everything is okay with his family.
Someone wanted me to write a more Rohirat oneshot but this will be more focused on the series rather than properly Rohirat.
I'll try to write a full Rohirat centred one soon.

It was around 8:30 in the evening of the 20th January when Rohit heard a knock on his hotel door.
Rohit's face morphed into confusion because no one in the team other than maybe Rahul and Ashwin would have the decency to knock.
He went to open the door and saw Virat standing there, looking a bit down.
Rohit looked at him like Virat had two heads because why would Virat ever knock on Rohit's door?
The same Virat who despite having a room of his own opts to spend every moment in Rohit's.
"Knock kyun kiya tune?" Rohit asked him.
"Andar aane dega?" Virat answered with a question pointing inside.
Rohit just moved to the side and let Virat in.
"I really don't understand why you thought the need to knock Vi. This is your room too."
Virat was sitting on the bed now, looking at Rohit like he wanted to say something.
"Is there something you want to talk about?" Rohit asked seriously.
Vi nodded.
"Toh bol na."
"Iwanttowithdrawfromtheseries." Virat said in one breath.
"Hein? abey shanti se bol kahin nahi jaa raha mein."
"I want to withdraw from the series." Virat repeated slowly this time.
"Oh."
"Oh? that's it? that's all you wanna say?"
"I don't know what you want me to say as your friend, Vi. I'll just ask as the captain why exactly do you want to not play this series?"
"I want to spend as much of my time as possible with Anushka as you know she's expecting."
"Vi..."
"I am sorry. I know it's very last minute and you might not agree to this but before you say no, this is non-negotiable, I really don't care." Virat interrupted him.
"Virat! seriously? God" Rohit saying this stormed out of the room.
Rohit walked to Rahul bhai's room and knocked.
Rahul bhai opened the door and saw Rohit standing there which wasn't a rare sight because Rohit and Virat would randomly come to him.
"Yes Rohit?"
"Bhai, Virat is out of the squad. Please arrange a meeting with the board tomorrow to let them know about this. Goodnight." Saying this Rohit just left from there.
