Macaque gently rubs the soft skin of the peach in his hand, imagining how sweet the juicy fruit will taste.
Waves beat against the sand below him, glittering in the late sunlight. Wind whispers through the leaves, but does nothing to drown out the joyful screeches of the other monkeys playing in the tree tops.
Macaque settles back against their special tree, watching the sun set over their little mountain. A perfect moment.
Well... all except-
A flash of auburn fur. His brother plops down next to him, flashing his cheeky grin.
"Hey bud! How's it going?"
Macaque smiles.
Perfect.

A simple fic (a very simple fic) but I like to think about how sweet and simple life was Sun Wukong and Macaque before... it all went down. They were just cheeky monkeys who wanted to enjoy life. I tried to capture that in here.
I don't know how I feel about this being my first fic in the LMK fandom. But these two are probably my favorite characters.
I'm glad I got to write this. :) Now it's making me sad.
