Jhenifer's pov-12:23 pm
The light shining down on me was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes. I didn't know where I was or who was next to me, but I knew that I was safe with them, or so I thought. I grew up with three brothers without knowing who my father was, he left when I was only 4 months old. As I was told, he was a cruel man who never paid any attention to my mother. When he left we found out he had a child with another woman who was well aware of the fact that he was married and had children. My mother was devastated to find out he had been cheating on her, she blamed me for my father leaving us, she never loved me nor looked at me the same again. My father left because he never wanted a daughter, so I guess you could say it was my fault. It's been over 10 years now. I'm turning 16 next month. My mother still hasn't forgiven me, but my brothers Tyler, Osmiy and Clevy were always there when I needed them.
Osmiy's POV-1:43 pm
"It's Jhenifer's birthday next month. What should we get her?" I said while talking to my brothers, Tyler and Clevy. "Maybe we could get her some books. She does read a lot after all." Clevy said whilst looking in the cabinet for some food. "Yeah, you guys get that and I'll get her that bookshelf she asked for." Tyler said with a small smile, "Wait, aren't you meant to be out with Jamie tonight?" I said with a grin slowly crawling onto my face. " Yes, I'm picking them up at 7:00." He said with a small amount of blush on his face. "oooooh" Clevy said whilst giving up on his food and turning to me and Tyler with the biggest smile on his face. "So is it official yet, when do we get to meet them, we don't even know if they're a girl or not!! So are you gay or not!?" You could tell that he desperately wanted to know, but Tyler never talked about that kind of stuff, he mainly talked about football. We didn't know anything about it, but he loved it and it was the only thing he liked talking about, besides our sister of course. "Whatever I'm gonna lay down for a while," Tyler said leaving the room. We all wanted to meet this special someone, but he would most likely say no.
Tyler's pov-2:10
"Ok gotta go to work" I thought while getting in the car. I Don't know why they have such an obsession with my life, but it's kinda funny to see them like that. I wish they would laugh more. I wish I could move away from here with my siblings, I just want to get away from this place, I don't want my sister to feel like a disappointment anymore.
Carlos' pov-3:01 pm
I wish I could take my revenge on them but I'm sure they all remember me, but that girl doesn't know. What was her name again?.. Jhenifer that's it, she doesn't know who or what I look like, she'll be perfect.
Jhenifer's POV-3:17 pm
I'm walking home from school today since Tyler can't pick me up. I don't normally like walking home since the walk to my house is 20 mins, but today it's raining and the rain calms me down. Today Alex didn't come to school so I texted him about it but he didn't answer, my friends didn't help either.
Earlier that day-1:05 pm
"Oh my god, did you hear?" Jenny asked. "Omg yeah!" clar answered. "Hear what, did something happen?" I asked, "Omg, you don't know!" Jenny said, almost shouting. "What, what happened?"I said, while staring at her waiting for her answer. Jenny and Clar just stared at each other. "Come on tell me" I desperately wanted to know, finally Jenny told me. "I heard a rumour that Alex missed school because he went out drinking with his friends and got hammered funny right!" She said laughing. I sat there and just looked at her. I don't believe it, he never drinks on school nights. He may be popular but he is strict on himself and like I said he would never do that.
Jennifer's POV-3:26 pm
I've had a crush on Alex since year 5, and since then I can never get him out of my head. I got home and noticed my brothers weren't there. Tyler was at work still, but Clevy and Osmiy were always there to greet me when I arrived home. "Whatever," I thought as I went upstairs to my room. But what I didn't notice was the man following me home. I saw him at the school gates when I came out. I didn't pay attention to him since there are always Parents there to pick up their kids. But this was different, he had never been there before as far as I can remember. He looked a lot like me which made me a little concerned.
Carlos' pov-3:05 pm
I wonder if they're still living in the same old house as before, whatever there she is hopefully she doesn't know me she's like what 14-15 years old now it was so Long ago I doubt that she even remembers having a father, unless those stupid boys told her about me, ugh if they did it would ruin my plans.
Jhenifer's POV-3:35 pm
The encounter at the school gates left me unsettled. The man's resemblance to me was uncanny, but he paid no attention to me as I walked past. My thoughts turned to Alex, the rumour about him drinking weighing on my mind. He's always been responsible, and the idea seemed out of character. We've been friends for years, yet there's still much about him that remains a mystery to me. As I settled into my room, I tried to distract myself with my phone, but thoughts of Alex presided. Despite our close bond, there's an enigmatic quality to him that intrigues me. The rain outside provided a steady backdrop to my musings, but something about today felt off. Alex's absence from school and the rumours surrounding him lingered in my thoughts. We've always been there for each other, like siblings. The notion of him getting caught up in something like this was difficult to comprehend. It made me question what might be going on in his life that I'm not aware of. I couldn't shake the feeling of unease as I paced my room. The sound of rain tapping against the window mirrored the rhythm of my thoughts. Maybe I was overthinking everything, but the events of the day had left me unsettled. Despite our friendship, there's still so much about Alex that remains a mystery to me. With a heavy sigh, I tossed my phone onto my bed, unable to shake the feeling that something was amiss. The rumours about Alex weighed heavily on my mind, casting a shadow over an otherwise ordinary day. As the rain continued to fall outside, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for both Alex and me.
Later that night. Jhenifer's pov-5:46 pm
As I was just about to fall asleep I felt hands grab me from behind, one on my mouth and the other on my stomach, I fainted because of the cloth that was held on my mouth. But I could feel them dragging me out of the house, it felt as if there was nothing I could do to escape. At that moment everything went dark. There was nobody around to help me. I felt hopeless and scared.
Alex' pov-5:46
I was on my way to Jhenifer's house because when I saw my phone had died I remembered that Jhenifer tried to call me and I wanted to talk to her. But just as I was about to turn onto her street, I heard muffled screams coming from her home. I picked around the corner and saw her being dragged out by a man who resembled her. The moment I saw Jhenifer being dragged away by a man, my instincts kicked in, and I ran towards them without hesitation. The man, upon noticing me, quickened his pace, but not before I caught a glimpse of recognition in his eyes. Despite my fear for Jhenifer's safety, I couldn't shake off the feeling that this man was somehow familiar. As they approached a parked van, I made my move, tackling the man with all the strength I could muster. Jhenifer slipped from his grasp, falling to the ground. The struggle was intense; the man was surprisingly strong, but my determination to protect Jhenifer gave me an edge. The sudden arrival of headlights and Tyler's voice broke the tension, "Call the cops, Tyler! He's trying to kidnap Jhenifer!" I shouted, still wrestling with the man on the ground. The police arrived swiftly, pulling me away from the man and handcuffing him. As they did, the realisation hit me like a ton of bricks - the man was Carlos, Jhenifer's father, who she believed had abandoned her years ago. His face, now lined with years of regret and defiance, confirmed my suspicions. Jhenifer, regaining consciousness, looked bewildered and frightened. "Alex? What happened?" she whispered, her eyes searching mine for answers. "You're safe now," I assured her, though my mind raced with questions about Carlos's sudden and alarming return. The revelation of Carlos's identity promised to unearth secrets long buried, changing the fabric of our lives forever. As Jhenifer and I faced this new reality, I knew we'd need each other more than ever to navigate the uncertain waters ahead.
