Chapter 1

Charlie paced around her and Vaggie's bedroom anxiously waiting and praying for Vaggie to wake up. Charlie tried to stop the tears falling but she couldn't stop them, she had just been out with Vaggie on a date when Lute had attacked her. Lute had tried to kill Charlie, but Vaggie had fought Lute and had been brutally hurt in the process.

Charlie sat down next to Vaggie on their bed and gently held her hand. Things had been going so well with rebuilding the hotel and getting closer with her father, Charlie should have known something bad was going to happen. She had known Lute hated them, but she never thought she would deliberately attack them unprovoked. Suddenly Charlie felt Vaggie squeezing her hand making Charlie gasp and look at Vaggie with hope in her eyes.

"Vaggie, can you hear me?" Charlie said as she squeezed Vaggie's hand back.

Slowly Vaggie opened her eyes and Charlie smiled in relief, she leaped forward to hug Vaggie but was shocked when Vaggie pushed her away so hard she fell off their bed and hit her head on her side table. Charlie touched her forehead and her heart hurt knowing that Vaggie had caused her pain. Vaggie had never been violent with her, and it broke her heart that Vaggie had hurt her.

"Don't you dare touch me demon scum!" Vaggie snarled. Vaggie had no idea what she was doing in a demon's bedroom. She had never met this demon, but she knew she was Lucifer's daughter, she had seen photos of her.

Charlie felt tears pouring out of her eyes, how could Vaggie call her that and look at her with so much hatred? Charlie didn't understand what was happening. She stood up using the side table to help her when she felt a bit dizzy.

Charlie wanted to go to Vaggie and reassure her that she was safe. But part of her felt afraid of Vaggie. It was a feeling that Charlie never wanted to feel around her girlfriend, but Vaggie had been violent and it made her scared.

"Vaggie please calm down, I know you must be scared after the attack, but I just want to help you".

Vaggie scoffed, "Why should I trust anything you say? I know you are Lucifer's daughter; you just want to hurt me".

Charlie flinched, how could Vaggie think she would hurt her? "I would never harm you; I love you and just want to make sure you are fully healed from the attack".

Vaggie looked at Charlie in disgust breaking Charlie's heart, "You love me? You don't even know me this is just another lie".

Charlie froze, Vaggie had said she didn't know her. Did that mean Vaggie thought they had never met? It would explain why Vaggie was being so hostile towards her. Vaggie had suffered a head wound in the attack that could have affected her memories.

Charlie's thoughts were starting to spiral but a knock on the door snapped her out of it. Charlie opened the door to find Angel who looked concerned when he saw how upset Charlie was.

"What's going on, is everything okay?"

"I don't know what's happening. Vaggie doesn't seem to know who I am, and she hates me", Charlie said tearfully and hugged Angel.

Angel flinched at first, thanks to Valentino sudden touches always frightened him. But he tried to shake himself back to the present, it was Charlie who was touching him not Valentino and Angel knew she would never hurt him.

Angel looked at Vaggie who was looking at them both with a disgust that shocked him. Angel knew he and Vaggie didn't always get on but even she wouldn't look at him like that let alone Charlie.

Angel carefully approached Vaggie, "Do you remember me?"

Vaggie sneered at him, "No but I know who you are slut".

Angel had to supress a flinch at the insult. He had been called that and worse many times before, but it hurt a lot more coming from someone he was starting to think of as family. Angel took a calming breath and forced a smirk on his face.

"Oh please, you'll have to try harder than that to hurt me", Angel said hoping he sounded more confident than he felt. "Do you know where you are?"

Vaggie looked out the window and despite the hurt she caused him; Angel felt a pang of sympathy at the vulnerable look in her eyes when she reluctantly shook her head.

"We need to get her memories back", Charlie said with determination.

Charlie would do whatever it took to get Vaggie's memories back. She knew there was a possibility she would never get them back but the thought that Vaggie may never love her again hurt too much so she tried to push it aside.

Vaggie wanted some time alone, so Charlie reluctantly left their room with Angel. Charlie didn't want to leave Vaggie alone when she was going through so much but she didn't want to overwhelm her. She hoped this would help Vaggie to trust them as well.

Angel saw he had a message from Valentino ordering him to return to the studio, but he didn't want to leave Charlie when she was so heartbroken. So, though he knew it would get him in trouble he ignored Valentino's texts and calls.

They would normally go to Alastor for help in situations like this, but they didn't know what had happened to him after the battle. They hadn't seen Alastor in months, Angel hoped he was still alive. He never thought he would consider the radio demon his friend, but he cared about him.

He could tell even Lucifer was concerned about Alastor though he would never admit it openly. Lucifer revealed he had some contacts may be able to help, there was no guarantee they would agree to help but any lead was helpful so Angel was glad they were getting somewhere.

Meanwhile Lute was watching the meeting in the hotel on her phone, and she smiled triumphantly to herself. She had vowed to get revenge on Vaggie and Charlie when Adam had been killed and it amused her immensely to see Charlie devestated. Lute wouldn't rest though until her plan was complete.
