Present,

Our lives had never been happier since then. We were always together, falling deeper in love with each other.

Our days felt empty without hugs and kisses, without cooking each other’s favorite meals on weekends, or without sharing stories from our childhood. Everything was perfect, and it felt like we didn’t even need the well-wisher we’d once relied on. Little did we know someone was quietly keeping an eye on our happy relationship.

Flashback Begins,

I was sleeping soundly, hugging what I thought was her, but something felt off. I opened my eyes, realising I was only holding a pillow. I frowned, glancing around the empty room. Where could she have gone?

I reached for my phone and saw her message: “It’s my first time at the temple!” I chuckled, hearing her excitement through the screen. She’d even sent a video of a priest blessing her and Mumma.

“Doodho nahao, phalo phalo. Bhagwan tumlog ko bahut khush rakhe ek dusre ke saath,” the priest blessed, and then Raavi turned the camera toward herself, grinning widely at the screen—me.

(May you blossom with happiness, and kids. May God keep you all very happy together.)

I smiled, thinking, How is she so adorable?

In the video, she walked around the temple, showing the surroundings, until Mumma’s voice interrupted, “Take blessings, beta; it’s bad luck if you don’t.” The video paused there.
