Ray exhaled heavily when his cell phone screen lit up with the words "win" decorated in blue and gold. A cheering call from his phone's gaming system automatically played. He dropped his phone on the table. His hand pulled his hair back because it was hot. Exciting sultry.
"Win again." Ray smiled looking at the ceiling.
Ray pushed the table with his feet, making the chair stand up and trying to balance itself desperately with just it two hind legs.
The sound of the front door creaking could be heard reaching Ray's room. Ray's eyes followed the direction of the sound source from below.
"Hey, where's my cell phone, huh?"
Ray raised his eyebrows when he heard the confusion of the person who had just entered the house.
"Ray!" called the confused woman.
Ray pulled himself and his chair back to their normal position. He immediately ran to the bedroom door. "What's wrong, Mom?" he asked looking down.
The woman who was called "mom" stopped flipping through the vegetables in her shopping bag, looked up. "Do you know where mom's cell phone is?"
Ray shook his head.
In Ray's mind, he imagined the shape of the cell phone that his mom meant. Most people would probably call it an antique rather than a cellphone. Even now, Ray still wonders why his mom carries that cellphone everywhere even though this ancient object cannot be used to make calls or send messages.
His mom took a breath and went back to flipping through the vegetables in the shopping bag. Cold sweat began to trickle down her forehead and neck. She also didn't forget to check her negligee pocket.
"Did you steal it?" Ray's mom asked, looking up again.
Ray was flabbergasted. "Why would I do it, Mom?"
His mom stared at him for a long time. The accused just put on a confused face because he was suddenly accused of being the perpetrator of theft. After five tense seconds, his mom finally stopped looking at him. Now his mom walked into the kitchen while massaging her forehead.
Ray returned to his room with mixed feelings. Offended, panicked, and sad.
"How come I'm suddenly the one being accused?" Ray grumbled sitting with one leg raised. However, he thought again while remembering the shape of his mother's cell phone. "Who would steal an old cellphone like that?"
