-your mom pov
I was about to take a sip from my coffee, when i heard my child screaming that I should have packed them a sandwich with Nutella for lunch instead of Biscoff spread.
"MOM!! I TOLD YOU THAT I LIKE NUTELLA MORE! YOU'RE RUINING MY LIIIIIFE!!!"
I imagine what life would be like without this burden of a child. I close my eyes and imagine a beautiful beach with palm trees, a nice view of the water and me laying on my towel in the hot sand with a margarita.
As I take a sip of my -now cold- coffee, I question where I went wrong. Was it the fact that I married the man who gave me this kid then left? Was it the fact that I only married him for the money, and never loved him in the first place? Maybe this is karma for taking half of his life savings, but I don't want to think about that too much. After I finish my coffee, I drive my kid to school, and go to a nearby cafe. I take a seat at some random empty table, grab my book and begin reading.
"Is this seat taken?", says a voice behind me. I turn around and see a man, looking to be around 30, with a painfully bright red head of hair.
"No, feel free to sit", I say politely. He sits down beside me, and after taking note of what page i was on, put away my book.
"I've read that book before", the man speaks. "Dave dies in the end- I am so sorry I shouldn't have spoiled it!" I chuckle at his reaction to his own sentence. "It's okay! It's my second time reading it, I know" I say, still laughing softly.
"My name is y/n's mom", I say. "I love that name! I'm Ed, nice to meet you!"
We talk for a little longer about our lives. He tells me about his experience as an unknown music artist, and we exchange numbers before I have to leave for work.
